Snapdragon Stadium
Almost to the finish line. Great build for a program like SDSU. I wonder, what will this kind of investment reward them with? Is there a bigger move at play with this new stadium? AAC, Big 12...PAC? They are going to build a brand new campus all around the stadium. Long term, in the NIL era, this could become a viable P5 member. Shouldn't be hard to recruit there...that's for sure.

Nah… USC and UCLA wouldn’t let it happen
Part of being in a P4 conference is having control over your market for that conference, unless you were basically grandfathered in from long ago or your market is that big.
That’s why those conferences are a monopolistic cartel. Everything had to go right for Cincinnati to get their CFP shot and they went out with a whimper

SDSU should be in the PAC 12 over Cal. Cal doesn't even seem to be trying to compete at any of the big 3 sports

I mean, SEC is taking Oklahoma and they absolutely love to go out of the CFP with a whimper.

Love the recent trend of smaller P5 and G5 schools building their own, smaller stadiums and getting out of cavernous professional ones

I could see Big 12. They have a lot of similarities to Houston. Decent football history, new stadium, major media market
Unfortunately I think we are getting closer and closer to the CFB Super League. 30 to 40 college football elites are gonna join together with the promise of an insane paycheck

The TV contracts for the BIG and SEC are already "insane" along with the CFP
money.
Don't see any big advantages for either conference with splitting away from G5's or merging with the rest of the P5's

I agree...along with Boise St, Colorado State and Memphis. 16 teams with two divisions East/West
Big 12 East:
Kansas
Kansas St
Iowa St
West Virginia
Cincinnati
UCF
Houston
Memphis
Big 12 West:
Oklahoma St
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Boise St
BYU
SDSU
Colorado St

Imagine if Bama dropped all the FCS, G5, and lower Power-5 teams on the schedule and this was their schedule instead
USC
@Texas
Penn State
@Tennessee
Washington
Michigan State
@Arkansas
Florida State
@LSU
Clemson
@Georgia
Auburn
Now imagine if 30+ other schools had similar schedules. Money is left on the table when UGA plays Arkansas State. This product would be completely soulless but it would make a ton of money

When are they going to be made to change their name? I'm offended by Aztecs.
Because Commanders, and Guardians, and Black Bears, are so much better.

Eh, you might get some pushback against a league that large stretching from Orlando to San Diego. BYU and Colorado State were two of the disgruntled schools that initiated the creation of the Mountain West after the WAC grew to 16 teams.
I could see BYU in particular causing a fuss about this since they were happy as an independent in football.
