Rule Change that makes sense

After any first down made by the offense, use the 25 sec play clock option rather then the 40 sec rolling play clock. Meaning wait until the ball is spotted by the ref and chains set and then run the 25 sec play clock. This is used after a penalty already and other dead ball situations.
The benefit, it would allow the team to actually celebrate a chunk play and not have to call timeout because their team couldn't get downfield and set for the next play in time.
I've seen it many times where the QB is just breaking huddle and raises his arm asking for a fresh 40 sec and the ref denies the request and results in a timeout. This takes all the momentum away from the team that just earned it.
Easy change to the rule and it would help the flow.

Allow hand fighting contact downfield for the DB and receiver. Take away the low hit penalty on hitting the QB in the pocket. And takeaway the 3 yd cushion for lineman on passing plays, and make it 1 yd of line of scrimmage.

The auto ejection for targeting has to go
Should be classified as a personal foul where it takes 2 infractions to get tossed. Whit was talking ab this recently and I completely agree with him there.
For him to be ejected 3 plays into the Florida game was completely ridiculous.

Either that or no more than a quarter unless you do it again after you sit out THEN a game suspension make sense.

You think stopping the game so a team can celebrate a non-scoring play will help the flow of the game?

Getting a first down isn’t a dead ball situation.

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care if guys have time to celebrate every first down.

Sounds like they need to be more efficient or have better clock management skills.

How would it help the flow? In my opinion, having guys actually play football instead of celebrate after every first down helps the flow of the game.

This would have the opposite effect that you think it would. Chains are typically reset in 5-10 seconds which would result in 30-35 seconds between plays instead of the 40 and allow less time for your wanted celebrations.

How about players learn not to celebrate excessive to the point that they cannot get lined up for next play.

Get rid of targeting and make the players sign a waiver. Don't want to get hit, go play soccer. I was watching highlights from the 2009 saints superbowl team last night and was reminded how much more fun football was when it was played by a bunch of mean hard hitting dudes rather than the pansies that make up today's game

The game is evolving yes, but if you think for a second that this is not still a very violent game, you my friend have not been close enough. RB and LB meeting in the gap is still a very violent affair. You may not see replays of the hit over and over, but it is still violent. There are no pansies playing high level football, argue with a wall.

If neither a defender nor offensive players helmets are at the center of the collision, launching should be allowed. Bring back the spear, but with rules. Let them launch a shoulder into the back or ribs of receivers.
I miss decleating hits in the middle of the field and these pansy WRs these days need to get put in their place.

Make pass interference a reviewable call. Those calls change games and the fact they aren’t challenged is ridiculous.
I’d also eliminate the running clock when guys run out of bounds. If the clock stops under 5 minutes in the 4th Q when you do that then make that the rule all game

I’d also say add an intentional vs unintentional version of it, with intentional being the immediate ejection.
My only fear is that it would put even more subjectivity in the hands of the refs and replay officials, and we know who it will ultimately benefit.

Offensive pass interference shouldn’t be a 15-yard penalty. It should be loss of down and 5 yards.
I know the goal is for it to be the same penalty as the defense would suffer, but a 15-yards penalty inherently hurts the offense worse than the defense because 25+ yards to go in a set of downs is almost always insurmountable.

Why should this QB be granted a fresh 40? Of course that wouldn't happen regardless - if there was a reset it would be to 25 rather than 40 anyhow if needed.
How about concentrate on playing football rather than celebrating and then this isn't an issue.

Take away spot fouls for pass interference. 10 yards and 1st down is fine but 40 yards downfield field is egregious and sometimes is the turning point in a game.

Are you taking NFL or NCAA? PI in the NCAA is only a spot foul if it occurs less than 15 yards from the previous spot.
