So question, we have automatic first downs for the offense, can we get automatic fourth downs for the defense?

Get rid of the "blindside block"
The idea was great in theory in CFB but the enforcement is terrible. It was designed to stop QBs and other defenseless players from being lit up. But now they are penalizing legal blocks on players that are actually involved in the play.

The fact that you and Yeti have DVs on your posts is just proof of how feminized modern America has become.

Uh you might want to read the rule, blindside is blindside regardless if you are involved with the play, far enough removed it’s UNR.

If there's a penalty in the final minute of the half the other team has the option of an untimed down.

I like the NFHS rule that the offended team has the option to start clock on ready for play or snap whether they accept penalty or not under 2 mins. Sucked for Shaw that they included dead ball fouls as well after the first go round with that rule.
Which BTW is basically an untimed down.

quote:I had a coach call me pre dawn moringing after a game where we had RFK after punter rolled out to the numbers to kick to avoid rush(no way he could have kicked without running) got of a really nice kick recieving team took it to the house and a rusher absolutely pummelled the kicker...... no TD and no possession, he of of course was adamant that once kicker went outside the box he lost protection....
If the punter takes more than two steps after cleanly receiving the ball, he must continue running. This ain't rugby.
me.. not at our level coach.... he can stand on his head as long as he LEGALLY kicks the ball he is protected.

Penalties near goal line should be equated.
First and goal at 2. D is offsides. 1 yard penalty
First and goal at 1.
O has illegal procedure. 5 hard back
Now 1st and goal at 6
In the same series of downs half the distance on one team should be the distance for the other
In the above case, offense should get 1 yard penalty back to the 2
If offense jumps first and is penalized from first and goal at 2 to the 7
Then if D jumps in that series of downs it should be 5 yards or to the 1 if 5 yards don’t exist.

Elam ending in basketball.
It would make the end of the game more fluid.
