I can't see baseball being popular in Portland. They lost their AAA team and turned it into a soccer stadium. Plus they are too busy growing beards, drinking expensive beer, and doing smack to pay attention to baseball. It would become another Tampa Bay or Miami franchise.

They should consider putting a major league team in Philadelphia.

Nashville isn’t big enough, yet. We’re still a little too boutique for 81 games in a full stadium. I think we will be ready in 5 years if we maintain status quo growth wise. I also think we need to keep the Grizzlies in Memphis for the foreseeable future.

There is not enough pitching talent to go around to 30 teams let alone 32, that is a fact

The A’s are close to securing a new stadium. They have a very loyal fan base but probably the worse stadium in the league. A new stadium will do wonders for that organization.

Agreed

I don't see any of these cities having really strong arguments. They may be the best options for a forced-but-unneeded expansion, but they're not putting pressure on to deserve teams, IMO.

As far as the Rays, am I the only one who thinks they need both a new stadium and a complete renaming/rebranding? The whole franchise seems like something invented for a shitty sports movie without licensing to use real teams.

Glorified beer softball league coming to a stadium near you! Any new expansion team is going to be levels worse than the shitty Marlins.

Shut down Florida baseball.

Montreal gets one.

Not enough quality starters.

Contract by 1.

Season too long with multiple playoff rounds.

Try 154.

So would 32 teams mean four 4 team divisions in each league or would divisions stay at 3 and be unbalanced?

How likely is Athletics new stadium at Howard Terminal site? Or is somewhere else more realistic?

I would do two 8 team divisions, balanced schedule, each division winner and then next 2 best records make playoffs. Go back to 4 team playoff.

I wouldn’t have any problem with that. I remember following the game in the ‘90s with 2 divisions in each league. But I imagine MLB would want 4 divisions in each league to cut down on the travel.

2009-2012 it looked like shite and was in bad shape. Houses being sold for nothing. Being so focused on a discretionary income economy, I'm curious what will happen during another downturn.

Detroit was in bad shape then too and now seems to be a shell of its former self.

Charlotte would do well. The AAA team leads the league in attendance. Mainly due to Wells Fargo and BOA season tickets, as opposed to butts in seats. If they can add 20k or so seats to the current stadium overlooking the city, it’s a relatively east transition.
