I was never much of a hockey guy, except the Olympics and sometimes the Stanley Cup finals, but I always enjoyed listening to Melrose talk about hockey on ESPN and Sportscenter back in the day. Him and Steve Levy made a good team. He always seemed like such a cool and genuinely good dude.
Rest in peace Melrose.

Had an all time hockey mullet. He'll be missed. His voice alongside a few others were the voice of hockey for my entire life.

Barry, Buccigross, and Steve Levy are three of the best talents ESPN has ever had. Barry on NHL 2Night taught me a tremendous amount about the game and how it was to be played. He had an infectious laugh, and it was clear that he genuinely enjoyed what he did on the air.
Melrose was a legend. Wasn't afraid to make fun of himself. Really gonna miss that guy as a sports personality.

This, big time.
I've always hated hockey, but I also always loved watching BM talk about hockey back in the day. That's how good he was at his job.

Single-handedly carried hockey for ESPN and all around great guy. Even when I was a kid and wasn’t super into hockey, I’d watch all of Barry’s segments just because he was so good

I’ve watched hockey my whole life and thought I knew the game. But I learned way more about the game from a true ICON!!!!

RIP Barry you should have won the Stanley Cup in 93'. If McSorley wasn't using an illegal stick you would have brought the Kings their 1st championship.

What a legendary guy he is and was. Successful at every level and spent it seems a lifetime on ESPN. Rest in Glory!!!

When a college football message board in Louisiana can give 166 likes out of respect to the passing of analyst in a sport that most folks down here don’t understand or care about, then you know the dude was the best at what he did, an absolute legend. RIP

The ESPN we knew and loved is dying off. Melrose delivered the highlights. You didn’t have to watch hockey to know the names he threw at you. Him, Levy, Bucc…reminder of good times.
