This is disappointing. I was hoping to see what a fully healthy Clowney could do in the NFL.

He would have never faced a double team, so his numbers could have been off the charts awesome.

Dude spent 2 years in college loafing around not to get hurt before he plays in the pros, and he can't stay on the field as a pro now.

Seems like his plan worked then.

Take it easy in college for a few years, ride your hype to the #1 overall pick, cash in.

If this is indeed a career ending injury, it occurred on the field so he's entitled to his guaranteed money. Plus, it's safe to assume he has an insurance policy for career ending injury as well.

Microfracture surgery is really a hard surgery to come back from. Here are some quotes from Colt's offensive line Gosder Cherilus on microfracture and his rehab.

quote:

“The doctor said, ‘I’d be surprised if you ever play again’ ” Cherilus said. “I was like, ‘My God.’ But I gave it a try. We did rehab for nine straight months. Three to five hours in the morning and then I’d come back and do some more later. Think about that.”

“You see my leg right here?” Cherilus said. “Imagine putting this on crutches for 10 weeks. You lose everything. The whole leg was numb. I couldn’t even walk. We had to teach the leg to do everything all over again: taking off, cutting, everything.”

quote:

Colts offensive lineman Gosder Cherilus says Texans rookie Jadeveon Clowney is "screwed" after undergoing microfracture surgery on his knee.

"His game is all about explosion," Cherilus told the Indianapolis Star. "That's a problem. I'm out there dancing. I'm an offensive lineman. That's a different ballgame. He's screwed. I'm just being honest."

I enjoy all of the internet NFL scouts. Regurgitate some shite they heard from a legit scout/analyst and pretend like they know what they're talking about.

Too many GMs don't have any balls, and make their first pick decisions based on measurables/draft analysts alone.

No one thinks like that when their livelyhood is at stake. You pick the guy that looks as though he should be able to be a great NFL player. No one is going to get fired over Clowney flaming out. When you look at him, he should be a good NFL player.

GMs that last in this league build their resume off of safe picks. Then when they've earned some respect from ownership, they can take risks.

Drafting with balls is all well and good, except for when you miss. That's what gets people canned quickly.

I agree with you. I still think that I would have drafted someone other than Clowney as my first pick.

Can you tell us what other players are going to have potentially career ending injuries?

Don't worry, since its football you can pretty much pick names out of a hat and be right fairly often.

Khalil Mack should be a Texan. I want to throw up every time I think about it.

I dont get how someone that is paid millions of dollars to make football decisions can blow such an important call like this (drafting Clowney over Mack) when it was so blatantly obvious to nearly everyone that watches football that Mack was going to be a superior player. Regardless of this injury, Clowney will never amount to his hype or draft stock or really even come close. I just dont get it.

had to get ya... and my original post i was just saying these 2 in general.... dam i wasnt saying i could predict the future. But some guys are just much higher risk than others. Clowney comming in had so many question marks, not worthy of a top pick imo.

Yeah. Especially considering that Mack actually played the right position. There was no way Clowney could have been rated so highly that he was considered a better player after a position switch.

His work ethic in college was questioned constantly and he was called out by his own head coach multiple times, and that was while he actually had incentive to play hard because he wasnt drafted yet. You want to rest your livelihood on a player like that?
