Remained quiet when my students were released. No claim of sour grapes here…but the

@wnba

business model is suboptimal. Players are better served in college or with other transparent options to aspire. I hope this market learns to tap into the passion of college WBB.

He is actually getting some grief from the WNBA loyalists. But the WNBA needs to examine its business model.

The easy solution is making the WNBA draft 1 round

IF you're cutting 20 something players from a 36 person 3 round draft before the first game, it's pretty clear you dont need 2/3 rounds of the draft.

Why the WNBA drafts 3 rounds when they have 12 roster spots is beyond me. NBA has essentially 15 roster spots and an entire minor league basically now and drafts 2 rounds. The WNA has less roster spots and no minor league.

The NFL model works
the NBA and MLB could actually cut a few teams because the way the leagues are set up - some teams and markets have no chance to compete

Exactly! If the business model was so good, then why did the Houston Comets go out of business after winning 4 championships and filling up the arena? Good for Dr. Tate for his comments...

They have no business model, and Tate is cleverly demonstrating that.

NILSU can’t compete with the NFL or the Major Leagues but they can compete with the WNBA.

the WNBA only exists because the NBA heavily subsidizes it. It couldn't survive on its own.

Exactly. There just isn’t enough people who follow the WNBA to keep it going. Most people, especially women, don’t care much for women’s sports, just how it is. Most women would rather watch the kardashians whore it up.

If professional women's basketball showed the potential to make money, someone would have started a competitor league by now.

I never realized how many WNBA fans we have on the MSB, but they're always on top of WNBA news and have lengthy discussions on these topics.

Not-so subtle endorsement by Tate for Reese, Morrow & Van Lith to stay/play/get-paid at LSU for the next two years, fully using up their available eligibility.

Hell yeah!

This also means Tate will support/advise 5-stars, like Mikaylah Williams & other future bluechips, to wisely stay all four years. #Dynasty

It made me LOL seeing how pissed off Draymond Green got after Lisa Leslie suggested NBA players donate some of their salaries to increase WNBA players' salaries. Green was like "NBA players support the WNBA more than they support the fricking NBA."
