Just because someone was more successful at one level than the other doesn't necessarily mean they were a better "fit" at that level. Mahomes has clearly been more successful in the NFL but I would argue his skill set is better fit for college. He's not a "pro-style" qb. He just played on a shitty college team.

In the pros you get paid to work so that motivates some people more

I don’t mean guys who got to the pros and improved, I mean guys who’s game just seems/seemed to fit the pros better than college.

The obvious example here is Tom Brady. Obviously he improved in the NFL everyone does, but it also just seems like his game fits professional football better than college football.

Another example IMO is Dame Lilliard. His game just seemed to translate to the NBA so well, while he was great in college, it seems like his style of play fits the NBA better.

I'm not even sure this is true for Brady. Michigan was always clearly a better team and more productive when he was playing, but for whatever reason his coaches didn't see it. All anyone remembers is he looked awful running during the combine, but didn't pay enough attention to what he was actually doing when he did get the opportunity to play.

Crazy to say this about a Biletnikoff winner but Ja’marr Chase has looked more impressive in the NFL compared to CFB. He always showed to be such a physical receiver in college but when he got to the NFL looks way more dynamic with the ball in his hands and making guys miss than it ever seemed like at LSU.

Probably just was never asked to do much in college on the loaded LSU team other than win deep balls.

Yea but he’s literally the GOAT.

This thread isn’t for guys who sucked in college and were great pros. It’s for guys who’s game just fits professional sports better than college for whatever reason

If Tasmin Mitchell had been a little more athletic he could’ve had a nice pro career. Dude absolutely gloved Kevin Durant and held him to his lowest point total.

I don't think anyone's game is a better "fit" for the NFL than college football. I do think NFL coaching staffs are better at getting the most out of guys and playing to their strengths for a variety of reasons. Tom Brady would fall into this category. So would a ton of WRs.

Are we just naming players who developed and got better or who actually kept the same game and had more success in the pros?

I would say if Dame is one, then Steph would be the ultimate, no?

Steph was doing the same stuff in college that he does now. Murder you with looooong range threes. He just happened to do it a a smaller school.

You see much more of this in the NBA than in the NFL. I submit Latrell Sprewell. His calling card was lockdown D in college. Shut down Chris Jackson, Todd Day, and a host of others. Then blew up in the NBA. Too bad he had to choke his coach.

He’s made some of it back but brick and Chavis cost this guy so much in draft money

LSU fans act like he wasn’t good here when he actually was, he just did what the scheme asked him to do

Disagree. He was only a true sophomore when you saw him last at LSU, he had only begun to scratch the surface of his potential, we just didn’t get to see that last year of development
