Never even heard about him rolling his car, he always struggled to match Tiger’s commitment and tenacity

Pretty wild that the two most influential and best golfers, by far, of a generation both have had disastrous off the course lives, and with striking similarity as to their central issues (chasing women, addiction). Phil's seems even more ridiculous considering he was thought to be the affable character of the two in their primes

From what it looks like, Mickelson's membership had been revoked from multiple prestigious country clubs. Allegations included nonconsensual physical contact with a female staff member and recruitment of employees to aid in marital infidelity.

You have to be a pretty special POS to have your membership revoked with his stature

And to cheat on your wife. I'm surprised she hasn't divorced his arse yet, I mean she has to know he is fricking other women.

It’s not new, people just believed his fake personality on camera. His nickname on tour was FIGJAM decades ago, always been a self-absorbed prick

Phil needed a lifeline and liv gave it to him
He was broke and the saudis paid him to be the face of the new league and to recruit other guys
He was too old to grind through the pga to earn his living
Let’s hope he saved some of the signing bonus

Has there ever been an athlete who crashed and burned worse than Phil?

He made tour players a lot richer as they had leverage

But it required private equity which wont be great in long run

Expect an even more corporate and expensive fan experience

OJ is the only one I can think of that was universally loved and would have been the face of the league through death that just completely became a pariah like Phil

Tiger seems incredibly obvious.

Except Tiger stayed loved by both fans and the tour. So it’s incredibly not close actually

Not unusual at all. When people have really high physical or mental skills, there personal weaknesses are usually also amplified.

When he was in his prime, even a bit later, he was famous for pressuring the younger tour players to play & gamble with him on the Thursday round when the pros basically have a private round. And it was always a lot of money, especially for the younger players. He really put serious pressure on the younger guys.

I have a buddy that lives in Jupiter and knows a lot of these people. How Phil and Tiger behave off the course is the norm, not the exception. I once asked him if Dustin Johnson was as big a degenerate as everyone says. His response? "He's not even in the top 3 worst behaved people in Jupiter that play pro golf".
