Are usc fans happy to watch their former conference burn?

It is really amazing to behold this. 20 years ago this wouldn’t seem possible in the wildest of scenarios, and 10 years ago it looked like the conference was out ahead on realignment by adding two teams. A historic conference gone with the wind. Imagine John McKay and Woody Hayes learning that in 50 years their two schools would be in the same conference, and that the PAC 8/10/12 would basically be no more.

Depending on how many Pac teams the Big 12 takes, the ACC schools who miss on thr SEC and B1G could end up as screwed as Washington State / Oregon State

I will enjoy watching Pitt beg to get into the Big12.

Arizona's Jason Scheer says another school besides the four corner schools is seriously contemplating bolting for the Big 12 tonight. Lot of speculation that Oregon will join the Big 12. Jason Scheer

I'm disappointed the Big 12 would consider letting them back in after the backstabbing they did. Big 12 should say frick you to CU and invite CSU. CSU would boom while CU continues to fail and become more worthless.

Colorado never made sense in the pac12. They should be in the big12.

Credit to the Big 12 for not only surviving, but thriving.
All of their schools, except W Va and Kansas, are 2nd tier schools in their home states. There are no power teams in the league - nothing close. And yet, they actually gained contractually when their 2 power teams left.
The PAC 10 does have 2 power teams and mostly first-tier schools, but apparently it doesn't matter.

Big 12 Presidents officially voted to accept Colorado late tonight

Sources: The Big 12’s presidents and chancellors voted unanimously Wednesday night on a conference call to accept Colorado as a new member. Colorado still has not formally applied for Big 12 membership, which is expected to happen tomorrow.

To the Big 12:

Colorado
Arizona
Arizona St
Utah

To the B1G:

USC
UCLA
Oregon
Washington

To the MWC:

Oregon St
Washington St
Cal
Stanford

This seems inevitable...

Entire west coast for the B1G, TV numbers will be gaudy.

I just can’t see Cal and Stanford associating with Fresno State and Boise State

Will the B1G expand with Oregon and Washington? The new commissioner and the school presidents don't seem all that excited about expanding again. They may value some of the ACC schools more and just sit tight for the time being.

I see Cal joining some pissant third tier non-football conference for their sports no one cares about because they aren’t in a position to compete in big boy land for money sports.

Stanford? They have options depending on what they want to do.

Never going to happen. The PAC will still take whoever it wants from the G5 ranks.

Agreed. Schools will move up. Id think Pac 12 could get a media deal above 10 mill with a MWC+ type conference. I could be off, I thought AAC was 7 mill, MWC abt 4. So you move up to a deal worth 10 mill plus and you have a new Pac whatever.

Big 12 jumped the gun
Had they waited they could have picked off the PAC 12 instead of bringing in teams like UCF, Cincy and Houston

Thats a good theory but who knows. Without adding them they are much smaller and panicked and maybe don’t get much for TV deal.

What if adding them caused panic by leftover Pac teams thinking musical chairs is about to stop and they might not have any seats left. The fact B12 added teams meant less seats to go around and Pac teams needed to act quickly to get in before its full.

I really don’t know just throwing out discussion items. It would have been better had they added all the leftover Pac teams and had East and West divisions. But at the time my guess is B12 was grasping and not wanting to wait too long and lose out like Pac did.

the top half of the new PAC won’t be bad

Cal, Stanford, Oregon St, Wash St, San Diego St, Hawaii, UNLV, New Mexico, Boise St, Wyoming, Colorado St…

Then the MWC will have Fresno, SJSU, Air Force, Nevada, Utah St, and take teams like UTEP, LA Tech, Sam Houston, and NM State
