What are the biggest rivalry games lost from realignment?
We are getting Texas and Texas A&M back in 2024, after not having that for a decade.
Missouri-Kansas has been gone since 2013.
Duke-Maryland (basketball) also since then.
Civil War and Apple Cup will be gone starting 2024.
West Virginia-Pitt? I don’t know how frequently that was scheduled.
Syracuse-Georgetown was a big college basketball rivalry.
I’m not old enough for Nebraska-OU or Nebraska-CU being important games. Same with Arkansas and its SWC rivals.

Meaningless games is one side of the coin
In a 4 team playoff (and worse in the BCS era), games from mid November onward were meaningless for about 90% of teams.

One could make the argument that all this realignment is the fault of incompetent leaders in the PAC, Big 12, and even Big East. If these people managed their properties better there wouldn't be a massive money gap that causes the best teams in their conference to want to jump ship.
Literally every school walked away from the PAC. They had a choice to stick together and they all bailed.

Speaking as one that does not like conference realignment, new rivalries will be formed.
Once again, it will all be ok. Might look different but we will all still tune in on Saturdays and bitch about fall weddings.

Wait until high profile players suffer consequential injuries.
Too many meaningless games.
Too many meaningless games.

People keep saying this, but CFB has never been bigger. Us diehards don't like this, but the truth is a playoff is popular with the masses.

. Playoff birth is meaningless.

Apple Cup has been extended through 2028.

No, that's not going to happen. It's like suggesting Louisville has a shot at a national title. They don't. Playoff birth is meaningless.
If you are a Louisville fan would you rather watch Louisville play UCF in the Go Daddy bowl, or rather watch them play Oregon in a playoff game?
As a fan of a team that could potentially be ranked 12 going into the playoff, I can tell you I’d much rather watch LSU play @Oregon in a playoff game than vs some random team in an irrelevant bowl game.

People can’t handle a good thing and just leave it alone. The dollar always wins.

That is a slap in the face.

Realignment, conference expansion, and more playoff teams really is cultural Marxism to football
Eroding longstanding rivalries and regional traditions for the sake of “diverse” conferences

CFB as I loved it had a good run
Last night I was thinking about LSU games I attended in late 90s-early 2000s. Minimal commercial breaks, players staying four to five years, bands playing instead of piped in music, full stadium of fans into the game, star players playing in bowl games, and being excited to make bowl games and see who the team was going to play.
Great times!

Sad. Unfortunately capitalism has destroyed college sports

When people talk about what ruined sport this mentality of win it all or you suck is a big part. Each playoff expansion makes me appreciate the old MNC days when the “National Champ” was more of a parlor game.

It still feels weird to me that Penn State is a Big Ten team.
