How does a kicker miss that bad? I immediately thought it was blocked. But when they showed the replay it didn’t look like a hand got on it at all. Pressure situation but you rarely see a kick that bad. The kicker has to feel terrible because it was well within his range from what they were saying.

The poor guy was absolutely mind fricked. He looked terrified.

He’s o-fer from 50+ in his career. Bonehead decision by Day to take the foot off the pedal.

Same way the Bama kicker shanked the winning kick in 2017. Pressure just too much.

That number 50 messed with his head. If he kicks it the exact same way as he did his 48 yarder, it's an OSU win. I'd assume it's akin to hitting a golf ball into the wind. I always swing harder when I don't have to and almost always shank it.

He's an absolute idiot for running on 1st down. That destroyed all the momentum.

What was kind of odd was immediately the holder seemed much more distraught and the kicker was consoling him not the other way around

Did anyone see if there was something wrong with the hold? The ball was rotating sideways in the air and the holder laid on the ground looking more dejected for a moment.

He very well may have just missed the kick that badly; as has been said since last night, he looked scared shitless. Just made me wonder if the hold wasn't put down cleanly.

The two Georgia "injuries" at the end of the game also hurt their momentum. Tempo was killing Georgia.

To begin with, it's not like kicking is an easy thing to do. Add the extra distance and a huge amount of pressure given the situation, it was inevitable he was going to miss. I haven't been more sure a kicker was going to miss since Scott Norwood.

I'll echo the replies about pressure.

Same way a 90% FT shooter can miss 2 free throws at the end of a game.

Right after the kick Ruggles appeared to be consoling the holder. I think it was a combination of the two.

Looks like his left foot didn't plant properly and threw everything off. But I'm not an expert on kickers.

Maybe if his coach doesn’t shite the bed and he gets to kick from 39 or 40 yards, he gets to be the hero.

The kicker should have kicked Ryan Day’s arse after he missed that kick for that shitty play calling at the end.

Deserved to get rolled in the lockerroom immediately after by the rest of the team.

Kirby and his staff knowing when to use timeouts set that up. He took his time out to ice the kicker fast enough that the guy wasn't able to get a practice kick in. Have to think that if he had a warm up kick he wouldn't have hooked it so badly on the real kick.
