They were completely outplayed and relied on home cooking to beat a Vanderbilt team that will struggle to make a bowl game in the SEC Least

I look at that schedule and see a 10-2 record.

If they are undefeated they will be in. No doubt about it

They scheduled Stanford, Va Tech, Michigan, USC and FSU

VT and FSU are part of their rotation of playing all ACC schools

they didn't go out and set up home and home with them

No undefeated power team will ever get left out of the playoff.

We've probably already played the best team we'll play this year and will play the second-best on the schedule this weekend. It's unfortunate that the schedule worked out like that, but it wasn't for lack of quality names on the schedule.

That said, there are still plenty of landmines left on that schedule, and I'd put the likelihood of us running the table at 20% or less (probably 35% or less if we win this weekend). While none of those teams are great, none of them are goddawful, either, except for maybe FSU.

We looked a lot better with Book this past weekend, but I don't trust him against high level defenses. The defense is still pretty damn stout. We'll see, I guess.

Also not their fault that UM, VT, FSU, and USC aren’t that great. You can only play who’s on the schedule. All of them have had 10+ win seasons recently when these games were likely agreed on. On paper that’s a tough schedule.

Who gives a shite. This is one of the oldest and dumbest arguments that gets put out there. You either played a tough schedule or you didn't. All this BS "we scheduled them 5 years ago" is exactly that, BS. There's a committee that votes at the end of the year and they look at actual strength of schedule, not strength of schedule 5 years ago when you made the schedule.

Enough of this, "you can only play who's on the schedule"

If they win out they're in. They ain't winning out though. They'll lose at least 2 of those, most likely 3.

Line up Notre Dames vs any SEC team at end of year and will be comparable

If they’re unbeaten well they’re in. If not they’re out. They know what they have to do. At least they are legitimate in skipping a CCG unlike tOSU and Bama have been.

Brian Kelly is one of the best play callers in cfb and now the offense can do what he wants

He gave up play calling last year. And this is also the guy that threw the ball 30 frickin times during a hurricane.

When it comes to the end of the season and you have to compare an undefeated ND to a one loss LSU, or a one loss ND to a two loss LSU

That's easy.

Notre Dame is in.

Not true. At all. They go undefeated, they’re in the playoffs.

I don't think he played all that well against LSU, to be honest. He was 13/18 for 109 yards and 1 TD/1 INT until that miracle catch by Boykin. He had at least two and maybe more throws that probably should have been picked off.

He also struggled mightily against Miami last year as well. He looked decent against UNC but nothing spectacular.

I agree that our offense looked much better Saturday, and that's mostly because Book is a much better facilitator than is Wimbush. But I think Wake Forest's defense sucks, and I'll need to see something similar from him this weekend to really buy in.

This is also like the fourth time Kelly has had situations like this with his QB's in his tenure (Crist/Rees, Golson/Rees, Golson/Zaire, Zaire/Kizer, and now Wimbush/Book), and it's never gone completely smoothly.

They win out they are in despite their weak schedule, because of their name

Their resume would still be stronger than Clemson's. What team on Clemson's schedule is better than Stanford and Michigan? Texas A&M would likely be their best win and A&M is a fringe top 25 team.
