It looks like they have a good shot at running the table, but how much will their schedule and lack of conference championship hurt their playoff chances?

It won't. They're Notre Dame and the schedule isn't bad. It's weaker than it looked at the beginning of the season, but it's still not bad.

They win out they are in despite their weak schedule, because of their name. Lose one, in my opinion, they shouldn’t get in, but I wouldn’t be surprised either way.

I think they will lose one of those games.

Stanford is good and despite losing to ODU playing in Blacksburg will rejuvenate VA Tech

They have 10 P5 opponents out of 12... most SEC teams for example play 9 of 12

They win out and they’re in. They’re Notre Dame.

Also not their fault that UM, VT, FSU, and USC aren’t that great. You can only play who’s on the schedule. All of them have had 10+ win seasons recently when these games were likely agreed on. On paper that’s a tough schedule.

I don't think they have a good shot of winning out at all. They are not that good. Stanford will probably kill them this weekend. Almost every other game is easily loseable as well.

A total collapse and Brian Kelly hot seat is far more likely

All of this. If ND runs they table, they will be in, and no reason they should not be in. It's not a horrible table, but it's not one that they will be able to walk through blindfolded either. Recall there are several previous years where we thought they should have gone undefeated at this point but they stumble at some point down the road. USC could be good by the time they come around, and Stanford is legit.

This is why I think "style points" really are important. When it comes to the end of the season and you have to compare an undefeated ND to a one loss LSU, or a one loss ND to a two loss LSU, we really, really need to have a record of domination, not squeaking by. It makes a difference.

that's a tough schedule. every team remaining is a bowl team except for USC and they get them on the road.

really liked what i saw from Ian Book. Brian Kelly is one of the best play callers in cfb and now the offense can do what he wants. Winbush was holding them back. Kelly wants to throw all over the field and Book gives them that option. They are much improved over the week 1 team that beat michigan.

If they run the table, they will need Stanford and Michigan to make their conference championship games. If that happens, they're in.
