The coach was shitting on Freeman's kid all night and was getting worse and worse about it

When does the adult, HS coach of the other team get reprimanded for berating a kid from a different school?

I don't give two-shits if the kids give each other shite, but coaches shouldn't be out there reliving their HS days and shite talking kids from other teams.

This dude is going to regret this transparent attempt at a payday and will likely end up fired and unemployable.

Supposedly he was already banned from a good chunk of gyms across Indiana prior to this happening.

Fleeger isn't some random no name assistant - he was one of the best light weight class wrestlers in the country of his era (2X NCAA runner up at 133). That he was moonlighting as an assistant at a tiny high school program with his background probably should be an indicator that he has had some issues.

Based on nothing but the OP and my opinion:

1) douche bag wrestling coach knew he was Freeman’s son and was fricking with him verbally.

2) Freeman thought it was too much, went to get his son, and gave the coach some shite (deservedly) for messing with his son. He MAY have even brushed against the coach in the process.

3) douche bag coach smells a possible payday and files charges.

This is probably a good guess.

IMO:

Son and assistant coach were having words about something that happened in a match, or at the event. Both were probably in close proximity arguing with one another. Marcus goes to defend his son and likely pull him away...as any dad would do. In the process he probably pushed the coach away. Not necessarily in a forceful manner to start a fight...but more to separate the two. Assistant coach, knowing who Freeman is, seeks attention by inflating the incident.

Catholic Church denying criminal behavior… where have I heard this before??

Except there’s video evidence that supports Freeman’s case.

Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman will not be charged after being accused of battery following an incident at his son's high school wrestling match on Jan. 3, the St. Joseph's County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement Monday.

According to the prosecutor's office, New Prairie High School assistant wrestling coach Chris Fleeger alleged Freeman gave him a "two-handed push" during the Al Smith Wrestling Invitational, where Freeman's son Vinny was competing.

The Mishawaka Police Department on Sunday said it had completed its investigation after obtaining video from the gym and interviews with Fleeger and multiple witnesses. When asked by police if he could have "inadvertently touched" Fleeger as he walked past, Freeman said he didn't know.

"A review of the video evidence does not support those assertions [of a two-handed push by Freeman]," the prosecutor's office said in its statement Monday, adding that Freeman's left hand remained in his pocket during the interaction and that Fleeger didn't stumble backward as originally alleged.

"Mr. Freeman turned toward the complainant and paused for approximately one second," the prosecutor's office said. "Mr. Freeman then left the auditorium at a walk.

I hate Notre Dame, but Freeman has always struck me as a sharp, stand up guy. He's "GQ," but he's also got that linebacker/safety grit to him. This story doesn't sound too believable to me.
