Pretty sure that I had a Wilson. I played Little League T- Ball at Kenilworth Park in New Orleans East. I still remember the Rocket Ship Slide and getting a "Suicide drink" ( It's a soda with a little bit of every flavor) You would get a free soda after every game. They also had an old black lady who sold Hucklebucks for $1 a piece across the street from Osbourne Elementary school.

My kid mitt in the mid-80s had a mass-produced autograph from Buddy Bell

Mine was probably one of my dad’s old softball gloves. Big, floppy, and caught everything. These days kids get brand new gloves that you can’t break in enough for their small hands and the ball bounces out. You could catch everything with those old softball gloves.

Mine also, Wilson Catfish Hunter purchased in 1981 from John Bratschi’s World of Sports in Hammond, LA. I remember picking it out with my Dad like it was yesterday. Still have that old glove.

Not sure of brand name, it was a Marty Marion glove given to me in 1959. Tried to get a pocket to it using oil and keeping a ball in it. None of that worked. It never would make a good pocket like the gloves of some of my teammates. It was really flat.

You may have had an old Wilson A2000 or Spalding I bet. All beat to hell and written on

You might be right. Seems like it was a black Wilson glove. Then it might have been a Rawlings hand me down

I highly recommend anyone wistful about an old baseball glove to check out eBay. There's a strong chance that any model glove you might have had is out there somewhere.

Live a little.

Btw, top shelf service with an eBay seller named "Glove Reviver and Son Vintage Shop". Highly recommended. And no, I don't know them. I'm just a very satisfied customer.

Nice topic op...

Pretty sure it was a kids Wilson glove and then I got a Spalding glove with a Daryl Strawberry signature when I turned 9 for little league, then got a Mizuno when I was 12 for the rest of my career which wasn't very long lol.

I don't even think Spalding makes baseball gloves anymore...

That's an incredible memory, there is nothing like the feel of a first baseball glove, especially from your dad. Oiling it up and breaking it in is a total rite of passage. Keeping those around is pure nostalgia.

very first, '73-ish (?) was a Wilson Ted Sizemore. then a Wilson Bobby Bonds late 70's into high school. there were really only the A2000 and the Rawlings with basketweave web as an "upgrade" that I can remember
