Nostalgia: What Was Your First Baseball Glove?

Mine was a Wilson Catfish Hunter my daddy showed up with one day in 1st Grade. 1977. He oiled it up, tied a ball inside for 3 days and away we went. His glove looked like shite to me when we threw. I would give anything to have his glove now pretty much.

You may have had an old Wilson A2000 or Spalding I bet. All beat to hell and written on.

OT posters "I just threw a milk carton on my hand and went to practice fielding balls in the hard clay"

This.
I can't remember my first glove other than it was a Rawlings hand-me-down from by older brother, which meant it was a mid/late 70's vintage. I seem to recall having a black Mizuno glove after that which I remember thinking was something special because no one else I knew had a Mizuno glove (truth be told, I didn't know what Mizuno was either. I just wanted a black glove)

Did you guys ever play with a Worth Tennessee Thumper bat in those days?
They were all we had on deck

No real ball player of yesteryear remembers the details of their first glove.

Probably something from Wal mart

It was a Nokona glove, I don't remember the model.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in tee ball.
After that I used a Rawlings for a while until I got a first base mitt.

I remember getting my older brothers George Brett glove when I was 7-8.

I don't remember my very, very first glove. Maybe a Franklin or something like that?
My first good glove was a George Brett MVP .390 signature A2350 RH model. Someone stole it weeks after I had been given it. It was from Wal-Mart, I think, but it was the best thing I'd ever seen.
I went on Ebay and found the exact model just this past Christmas. I bought that and an Amos Otis glove. Then when it came time to open gifts, I had Dad and I open our gloves at the same time.
I told my parents how riddled with guilt I'd felt for the last 40+ years. I felt like I had wasted their hard-earned money. We were poor, but I never knew it.
All my Dad would say after putting on the Amos Otis was, "I'm 80 and this is the first glove I've ever had." I broke down crying later, as Dad was VERY, VERY poor growing up.
I don't have a lot, but I spoil them every single chance I get nowadays.

A Rawlings fastback with the holdstar, exactly like this one:
Still have mine, buried somewhere in storage.
Got it in the early 80s.

Got my older brother's Dave Kingman glove. Used that glove from little league all the way through high school and then used it for a while as an adult playing industrial league softball. Sucker finally gave out when I was pitching and took a comebacker that was so hard it broke my finger inside the glove and broke the glove apart. Sad day.

Back in the 80's little league we had an Easton Black Magic and a few other bats. The Black Magic was the only bat anyone used.
