I can see something like the former recruit QB from UF that sang a rap song being an example of what the NFL will choose to do with this authority. It will be hilarious too to watch the double standards.
That's exactly what this will be used for. Suspend a white guy who tweeted rap lyrics while he was in high school.

That’s honestly chickenshit. Teams obviously have the right TO NOT EMPLOYEE SAID PLAYER if he did piece of shite things in the past.
I couldn’t imagine hiring an employee and telling them “hey, I’m really happy to bring you on board and you’re going to be a valuable asset to our team, but I’m gonna need you to take this first month off without pay because of altercation you got in back in 2021.”

I guess the NFLPA has signed an exclusive deal with Vaseline.
Have a hard time getting the current members to care since this won't do anything to them.

Well, they would be wrong, wouldn't they? Perhaps you do not really understand what a typical pre-employment background check is.

That Iowa St QB with the 7 dollar parlay will be suspended the entire season his first year in the league.

Should he have been drinking, no, but there wasn't a shot in hell he was avoiding that idiot running across multiple lanes of highway.

Didn’t they do that with Terrelle Pryor years ago?
Yes, but that was a bit of an anomaly because he entered through the supplemental draft. It was still so dumb for Goodell to do.

That's not what this will get used for and everyone knows it.
Exactly. This is going to cause huge problems. People who don’t even watch the NFL are going to find out about something someone did when they were a kid and then demand that the NFL enforce this rule.
The NFL will cave to these people (who couldn’t care less about the NFL) because they don’t want bad optics.

Not much to check. Their lives are pretty public and every arrest in college is blasted on the news.
Vast majority have also never had a job before the nfl

That's been going on for awhile. One group does it a lot

I have no issue with this. I am fairly certain I could be fired from my job if it came to light that I had committed some serious infraction or reputation-damaging offense before I began working here.
Yeah but...this is only going to be used for leverage.
Your average NFL player isn't a model citizen.

Based on what? There were 25 players arrested in 2022. There are over 2,000 players in the league.

Yeah, the NFLPA represents current NFL players. They don’t represent guys who aren’t in the league yet.

Yeah this is gonna go south. Somebody’s 4th grade facebook post gonna get them suspended.

Incidents such as Joe Mixon's case or the recent incident with Jalen Carter would now fall under this category.
No. This is not what the rule is for.
It will be used to suspended players who have politically incorrect social media posts from high school or college.
