The public schools want the gate money. The private schools would rather not do it but in the end have determined it is better than playing the same 5 teams all year and again in the playoffs.

The privates could bleed out the public schools if they wanted to.
If they went and started their own league, there would only be a handful of public schools with the money to sustain a decent program

quote:not really. Regular season and playoffs are two different things. The districts are relics of an earlier time when they had the utmost importance in your playoff seeding.
it just seems completely stupid to have a separate public/private state playoffs but have public/private districts
Now they mean a little bit for bragging rights and giving meaning to regular season games, but if you win 4 or 5 games, you'll almost always go to the playoffs

Back in my day private and public schools met in the playoffs too. You knew you were #1 undisputed

If they did a complete split, the public schools programs as a whole would be done in this state.

What are you basing this on?
Your honestly the private schools are propping up the public school football programs and funding them? How exactly is this happening?

Our state is very unique in the situation we have with private/public schools. There are only small pockets in which the public schools arent complete trash.

Public schools bring in more gate money than privates. There may be a few exceptions but for the most part public schools consistently outdraw private schools.
TV revenue?
Not enough high school games on tv for this to even be a consideration.

Just because schools like Catholic bring a shite ton doesn't mean all privates do. I went to the battle on the border at independence stadium and Curtis had like 30 people there while WM had almost the entire lower bowl filled on their side. I know it's a lot closer for WM but the game right after was Evangel and Neville and Neville had just as much if not more. Could've been a combo of WM and Neville people though as many have friends or family that have kids on both teams and whatnot.

WM high school prob has 3x as many students as Curtis
Curtis is tiny

Exactly. That was kinda my point. It will vary greatly from school to school and area to area. Privates will bring more in the BR and NOLA area and a couple in Lafayette but in the smaller cities and towns the public's dominate for the most part.

Disagree all you want but doesn't change the fact that you are wrong.

My high school had about 1700 kids and we were 5a. The 6A powers in Virginia had over 3000 kids.
Please note that Brother Martin, Jesuit, Rummel and probably Holy Cross and St. Augustine too, have enrollments of 1,000+ boys only grades 9-12. Theoretically equivalent to public school (i.e. co-ed) enrollment of 2,000+.

Lol no. Bad info on Rummel & holy cross. Don’t know about the others.
Rummel had 685 boys as of 2015.
Holy cross might have 1k boys K-12. Might

Rummel did used to have 1000 plus though I think
Posted on 12/12/17 at 12:22 pm to lsupride87
Yea they used to almost 20 years ago. And certainly not since Katrina

Yeah, St. Amant has like 5000 season ticket holders. They regularly draw 9000+ for rivalry games. I think the publics would be alright.
