Get rid of the pelicans and I think it would do pretty well. The brass were always well attended.

When the ice gators, kingfish, and brass were around it sure felt like hockey was well supported in south Louisiana

if this is what it takes to build a new arean... do it.

Really can’t see this happening

Why the frick should Atlanta get a third expansion team?
You can only blame the stupidity of the Atlanta Spirit ownership group so much.

I don't think it will happen
That being said, I think there would be a lot of excitement for an NHL team in NOLA and if they stayed competitive like Vegas and Seattle the city would support them. The NHL expansion draft allows teams to compete immediately and if they were good the city would show up. I'm a Stars fan and would still buy season tickets if this happened.

Feel like they should try untapped professional sports markets before Nola. (Arkansas, maybe Alabama?)

More likely to lose the Saints to another city than get another franchise. New Orleans is a disease.

Because attendance was never the issue

Oh, they're 100% to blame.

The Saints aren’t going anywhere

frick it. Bring em back as the New Orelans Jazz. That name belongs in New Orleans and there's no reason we can't have a cross sports common name.

I would happily ship the sorry arse pelicans out for an NHL team.
I’d buy season tickets.

Who the frick thought Florida could have two teams?
Two teams that are responsible for 3 of the last 4 Stanley Cups
Living in South Florida most of my life, Panthers games were so much fun to go to because I could wear jeans and not sweat my arse off.
The only issue I see with the expansion is getting a practice facility for the team. The Panthers just got one and it's state of the art. Most NHL teams do not have that level of a practice facility, and that is absolutely going to be needed for any new NHL team.
For reference on a team price, the owners of the Utah Hockey Club paid $1.2 billion for them. That's A LOT of money and Gayle would need to sell the Pelicans instantly for that to happen.

This would be awesome. I lived in Nashville for a few years and Preds games were a blast.
However, Louisiana would mess this up in so many ways. I could see Loomis and co having a hand in this and it would be as successful as the Pelicans. The Pels are already the forgotten team in NOLA, imagine a hockey team.
They’d also try too hard to give the name some Louisiana tie in and it would be awkward and just weird. They’d probably want Mardi Gras colors because, Louisiana.
With that being said, I’d like to see them try. I’d go to New Orleans for an NHL game much faster than I would an NBA game.

I honestly think all of this momentum is built off of how great New Orleans was as a Super Bowl host. Everyone was singing the city’s praises and that raised its status in the sports world. We all know how New Orleans can be when the spotlight is off but the city sure knows how to throw a party and attract positive attention when it’s showtime.

Again, the issue wasn't attendance.
It was ownership
