NCSA - any parents pursue this for the kiddo in HS sports?
Posted by HoustonGumbeauxGuy

Got some emails and VMs about getting my kiddo enrolled in this program. He's a very good soccer player, but I don't know if NCSA is a premier program for exposure or just another bull shite rabbit hole for cash.
TIA
TIA

I have no idea but they blow me up with texts and calls. I don't take them. My kid is a pitcher in 10th grade. He plays summer ball with East Coast Sox. I think kids get on a list when they play certain showcases.

Money grab and with social media and Hudl, kids and parents can get all the exposer they need. Go to camps of the colleges that your kid is interested in and they'll make an offer.

Big schools will find athletes no matter what. But for everyone else NCSA is a great way to get film out. There are so many schools out there you’ve never heard of. Worked for my kid. Just be active in putting out info and updated highlights.

Out of curiosity, what are the costs?

Just checked out their site…pretty cool. The logo looks just like IMG’s, guessing there’s some connection there.
We already do a ranking service that keeps my son’s profile and videos and such…but I’m guessing this IMG service is similar in structure.
I think a profile is pretty important, you want a place that holds videos and keeps stats.

Did the same for football and didn’t use NCSA at all. Probably depends on the sport and like you said, the level.

Alot of it probably depends on the sport. Id imagine smaller sports with smaller staffs is where its utilized the most. In our case we couldnt really get out to meets much to recruit so we relied on service like ncsa/berecruited alot.

We're thinking about doing this for our son. He's in soccer also. My cousin used this for his son and said it did help him get a schollie for basketball at a small school.

My daughter is a distance runner and we had an initial meeting with NCSA. They had some good tools to conduct research and they had direct email contacts for coaches so you show them you are interested.
They also had some cool databases where you can compare schools.
They also had a section where coaches would basically post a job like we’re looking for a long jumper or a pole vaulter.
See I didn’t even know about the “job post” type section. We all used one account. I’d usually sort by certain standards and comb through to reach out to anyone that fit what we were looking for. Our HC probably utilized that a ton I would imagine. That’s pretty dang sweet though.

If you're any good, schools find you.
It helps to make sure your kids have plenty of y's in their name.

NCSA doesn’t do anything you can’t do yourself. That being said, by using the service, it does make it much easier to send out video to coaches. You can also see which coaches actually open up you email. If you are considering using the service, it’s better to start sooner rather than later. I believe we paid like $500 and my daughter took an active role in getting herself recruited. Once you sign up, the site stays active until the kid is done with college.

quote:This is what I see with football coaches at the D1 level. HUDL has made recruiting easier for the big schools because they have people that watch film on their payroll. The best recruiters have relationships friends of the program, in every area, that send them highlights and high school coaching contacts when they see kids flashing. The high school coaches can then send whole game tapes for the recruiting guys to be able to truly evaluate the kid. Sometimes a D1 assistant will offer off of the recruiting guys evaluation of the video and talking with the kid and his coach.
Did the same for football and didn’t use NCSA at all.

There are so many out there. We pretty much used FieldLevel. Got quite a bit of interest there.
