Terrible idea.
Just like playoff expansion in CFB from 4 was a bad idea, but now that we have it at 12 it is still pretty enjoyable and the regular season hasnt been impacted much. But just like myself and many others argued it will never be allowed to stop at just 12.
Sure enough now the big 10 wants 24 and the SEC wants 16.

A good thing is always ruined by greed. It dilutes it so much.

And this tournament increase is not going to benefit mid majors. It's going to be more mediocre high major teams added to pad payouts to power conferences. It will get to the point where we will see teams with fired coaches making the tournament because they're scraping the barrel to fill the bracket.

I had only been thinking about the effect on the men's side, but holy shite are some bad teams going to be added on the women's side. Their tournament should probably still be at 48.

More basketball for people to bet on, that’s all that really matters. The death blow of college sports happens to be currently looking a lot of people in the face and a lot of those people can’t accept it. A lot of those same people might win a couple dollars on one of the many gambling apps but those same people give ZERO SHITS about what’s really going on when it comes to gambling, especially in college athletics.
