So blatantly obvious this is just another lawsuit waiting to happen.

This is like a dictator that lost power because everyone realized he’s a total pussy laying out new rules and saying “ok guys you have to listen me again”

I’m fine with this if they make players sign three year contracts. Unlimited portal transfers has ruined college sports more than NIL.

If schools start paying directly, it will be very interesting to see how Title IX works into this. I guess 3rd alternates on the women’s swim team will be getting $50k/year.

College sports is dead and I hope it complete falls into an abyss at this point. Let pro leagues pay for their own development leagues and go to club sports for college.

Tons of doomsday, faux-prophetic retards in this thread.

Per usual.

Like any of you junkies will stop watching altogether on some posture principle.

Puh-leaze.

I’m cfb till I’m 6 feet under.

And so are you.

I actually know many die hard LSU fans that grew up with LSU sports as a major part of their lives that stop giving two shits about it with this mess.

Add in inflation and less disposable income, and no loyalty from players and people stop caring.

Aren't there some universities that stipulate that the coach can't be paid but so much? Thus, they get around this by paying a coach a salary of say $200,000, then create some bogus item like "service fee" that pays him 5.5 million.
Will the schools have to do this as well?

Should we start taking bets on the first former collegiate athlete that sues and starts the avalanche of lawsuits that will follow?

This is about to be a fricking mess.

In what ways is college football and basketball not a full on professional sport at this point?

Collective bargaining?

You guys are funny. Nothing has really changed. Players have been paid for decades by most of the top 15 teams. Players have never been loyal they were simply forced by the rules to stay. All that has changed is that if you actually ever cared about learning player names you’ll have to learn them more often. I stopped caring about players when Inwas in class with them and they were some serious pretentious pricks. I root for the 11 uniforms of my team on the field. If one gets injured, roll his butt off the field and someone is always ready to go in.

Ironically this is probably how you have been treated all your life so it's most likely the reason you see the world this way

I gave up my basketball season tickets.

Considering McMahon’s tenure, it wasn’t the hardest thing to do…but the current state of college sports is what finalized the decision for me.
