I'd do it. Certainly not for a mediocre 4.5 era guy but for a guy with mid 3s and has pitched with stuff that put him sub 3 ERA? Yeah I'd do it

tucker will have to be invovled to get a player like degrom

U mad bc you thought the stros were gonna get Quintana ? See what happens when you gotta come off a fisher or tucker to nab an ace. You won't GAF about dealing unproven prospects for a chance to win. You wish you would've sold a Paulino or martes already. Cubs done set the market
Not at all. I didn't want Quintana. I'm perfectly aware that it's going to hurt to get the guy that puts you over the top. My point was that the Cubs just won it all, and are now being mentioned in connection with multiple trade targets. Just doesn't seem to make much sense. If by "set the market", you mean overpaid, then yes.
Also, Cubs AND Clemson fan? That's cute.

Michael Pineda has a partial tear of his UCL. He is seeking a second opinion but the recommendation is to have Tommy John surgery.

Yankees should go into sell mode...
Wonder if this means I can get Chance Adams now

Arrieta will walk, lackey is old. They are looking forward a bit and are looking for controllable SP. Like any smart team would I reckon
They have enough young assets to afford them a consolidation.

Would be the smart play, but will ownership agree?

Zobrist is the only position player they're set to lose correct? All of the others have multiple years of team control?
So why are people upset the Cubs are trading for pitching when that is the one area they don't control outside of Hendricks.

I don't think the Mets are gonna move Degrom unless they get blown away with an offer. It would have to be something like the White Sox got for Sale for them to move him. I think the Mets keep that team together for one more year.

Pineda being out, I hope they don't do something stupid and sell the farm for Gray, Cole, etc....
Yankees are not close to being series World Series contenders. Right now they are more WC2 contenders that would get knocked out if they advanced past that.

So if the Cubs were willing to give up Jimenez and Cease in deals for a SP, and they overpaid...

The #Cubs tried to acquire Fulmer, Archer,Cole before Quintana, thwarting #Brewers aggressive attempt. What's next?
What's the cost going to be for the above mentioned?

Nobody's upset, and my post was in reference to the post stating all of the other guys that the Cubs may be pursuing.

You don't have the prospects for any of those and nobody wants a bum legged .185 hitter

quote:Yeah but the whole "remake" the team. They are not remaking anything. They are trading from a surplus of players who won't see major league action for 2-3 years. Hell in 2-3 years they could have another crop of talented kids coming up. Especially when it comes to paying all of these guys they could move some and restock the farm all while remaining competitive.

Tucker/Martes would be the starting point for a deal for DeGrom for sure I would think. I would be fine with giving up those two for him plus others as long as Whitley and Fisher stay.
I still think Sonny Gray will be who Houston gets, plus someone like Justin Wilson
