If you could get Gausman at a low cost that would be a great move. It would be for any team that needs controllable starting pitching really. Baltimore's track record with homegrown starters is atrocious and he still has a lot of control left

I think at worst Gausman is a top notch reliever

Man yall cubs fans need to get over Schwarber. The guy tore up his knee last year and has sucked this year.

So you are going to rob peter to pay paul on the major league club?

He has sucked this year but its definitely not time to just give up on him. He tore his knee up in the third game of the season but came back in the World Series. On the biggest stage and having not played the entire year, he came through with crucial at-bats. Without some of those at-bats, the Indians are probably champs.

One of the guys covering the Cubs says Kevin Gausman would make perfect sense (they face Gausman this weekend in Baltimore). Ken Rosenthal connects the Cubs to Christian Yelich too. He also mentions the Cubs being interested in Tigers starting pitchers Derrick Norris and catcher Alex Avila.

Win the World Series then remake yourself, selling off many of your young assets, after a poor first half the following year. Go Cubs!

Rosenthal:
Among #Astros’ bullpen targets, per sources: #Tigers’ Justin Wilson. Teams discussed him at winter meetings, could not agree on match.

Max Im just concerned! Do we really trust Theo? Trading all the future assets for mediocre players is not a way to keep the window open. Also what with the reports of drug abuse causing the decline in the staff who knows if the cubbies will ever be back in contention? Sad!

A bigger picture exists that you obviously aren't aware of judging by your posts mate. You think a guy struggling for half a season defines his future? Dude is 25, doesn't get everyday AB and is coming off an ACL

Is Bregs done bc he's hitting 250?

A bunch of AL teams will be calling on schwarber up until the deadline

Only 8 guys can play and you're getting a starting player back. Cubs will always spend in the offseason

I'm fine keeping all of those guys but Theo won't hesitate dealing them to get better. And they're MLB tested

but success over what? 200 at bats does? dont think anyone is saying he is done as a player and can easily become a major contributor, but theres been just as many questions as answers about him to this point

he really doesnt have the trade value to be a major piece in a trade that could get the cubs yelich

U mad bc you thought the stros were gonna get Quintana ? See what happens when you gotta come off a fisher or tucker to nab an ace. You won't GAF about dealing unproven prospects for a chance to win. You wish you would've sold a Paulino or martes already. Cubs done set the market

Or

Ya gonna go into a playoff series with Brad peacock and chuck Morton while DK is in a neck brace and get shite stomped

They haven't remade themselves... Cubs are young in the field, they traded players that won't see the majors for 2-3 seasons.

I mean would you take 5 years of challenging for the series or 5 years of potentially being good enough?

Cubs are all in and I like that considering we know not all prospects make it.

I'm not saying anything different? A guy like that still has value though. I'm not saying he's going to get you a chris sale

I mean you quoted specifically where I said AL teams could come calling. Never said he would be a main piece in a deal for Yelich. I doubt they even trade yelich. If they put him out there I'm sure it would start with Baez or Happ. Miami has a barren farm, they are going to want a haul regardless

Lester has been in these dudes feels for a few years now

The Cubs WS didn't sit well with em, now they had a super first half and the Cubs struggled, they gotta take the opportunity to get a punch in

hes tradeable, but i get the sense that cub fans have really overstated his trade value. hes a fine young player with questions

schwarber was one of the names in a response to what you had to offer a major trade stemming from a post about the cubs being interested in yelich. thats where i was coming from

here are some names the Mets could demand to see just how enamored the AL West leaders are with deGrom.

Francis Martes, RHP: The 21-year-old flamethrower has already logged 24.1 innings in the bigs this season. In the minors, 10.6 SO/9 shows incredible stuff. Inconsistent with his command, but a special arm.

Kyle Tucker, OF: The fifth overall pick in the 2015 draft has posted an OPS over .800 during his minor league career--including a .921 mark this season. Tucker looks poised to be a 20 HR, 20 SB player in the big leagues. He could be even more.

Derek Fisher, OF: The 2016 first-round pick has been a monster at the plate this season in both the minors (19 HR, .945 OPS) and brief cup of coffee in Houston (2 HR, .992 OPS). A future middle-of-the lineup hitter is emerging.

There are so many signs pointing toward the Astros and Athletics matching up for a trade this deadline it's almost silly to think they won't make a trade.
