Amazing a Cubs writer says trading Schwarber for Norris is selling low on Schwarber but a Fulmer for Schwarber deal is fair.

De Grom would take Martes and Tucker?

Yeah I'm sure it would. I would be okay with giving up Tucker in a deal for DeGrom. I just want to keep Fisher in that case. One of them will be able to slide into a starting OF spot next year

Tucker
Martes
Musgrove or another high floor/low ceiling pitcher
JD Davis
Low level lottery ticket prospect

I wonder if that gets it done

Well, now -- weeks later -- Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports a deGrom-Astros connection. This time, it is in reference to trade-market alternatives Houston could seek instead of paying a huge price to the White Sox for Jose Quintana .

The price for Quintana is high enough that the Astros are looking elsewhere, having known to have called on Teheran and even Mets star Jacob deGrom, as Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated and MLB Network first reported. And word is, the Astros don't actually see Quintana as an ace at this point. The Yankees , who once had Quintana in their system, may like him a bit more.

While Heyman doubled down on Verducci's deGrom-Astros thought, a layer was added: The Astros called to discuss a potential deal with the Mets. In June, Houston's deGrom interest was speculation.

Aren't the Mets in need of corner infielders, and aren't the Astros likely upset with a certain Twitter situation as well as having some regret over missing out on Sale? I hope he doesn't come after me. I don't have any flees.

That would save getting rid of Tucker for sure

According to Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci, "In a perfect world—and in an indication of how high they’re shooting—the Astros would love to add Mets ace Jacob deGrom."

Heyman parrotted it recently

Would take a big prospect package. I was doing some reading and Mets fans seem to think the price should be our whole farm. They want to hang on to DeGrom as a long term asset through a rebuild which seems weird as he's 29.

The shine is wearing off his star though... Not sure he and Martes would be enough

I would do this for sure. I dunno if they would want more though.

According to Kansas City Star columnist Sam Mellinger, the Royals have begun focusing on looking at starting pitchers and relievers on the trade market. Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo reported last weekend that the Royals are scouting Phillies reliever Pat Neshek.

That deGrom thing kinda seems to be some writers regurgitating some echo chamber stuff (Don't mean any disrespect doe, pls keep the juicy rumors coming).

Have to wonder how much of that is sincere on the part of Lunhow, and how much if is just posturing to get CWS to calm down on these absurd prices they are throwing out on Q. Torres and Frazier for instance is a joke.

Considering the rumored is that the Astros contacted the Mets again after what the Sox wanted.
Think the Astros feel if they have to give up those types of prospects get someone they feel is an ace.

Quintana doesn't and never has resembled an ace. Don't get where that came from.
