Well that's when the real "fun" begins - if the B10 and SEC ever start kicking schools out.

This entire thought process is utter bull crap. This is absolutely sustainable. And if the coaches wanted to stop it all they have to do is stop paying these high amounts. Nobody forced Miami to spend 3 million on Mensah. They freely did it.

And players want to play so this idea that you’ll have 85 man rosters of guys willing to sit the bench is laughable.. Sure, Michigan can buy a lot of players but the players that don’t play will transfer out. Michigan lost their #1 RB to the portal so it isn’t all about getting paid.

Many of you are just chicken littles. Meanwhile, we are going to have a great upcoming season where no one knows who will emerge in the playoffs.

But there isn’t even 32 teams that can fund that kind of roster.

What do you mean? The NFL does this every year. You do realize that the donors to each school collectively have more wealth than most of the billionaires that own an NFL team correct. The amount of money spent on college rosters are relative to nickels and dimes of the collective donor groups

Sorry, but the guy at Michigan has no right to complain, especially since he just chose Michigan.

He can't highlight what's happening to the sport? On what basis?

Which is why nothing will be resolved minus a societal reset.

Fandom needs a reset and to grow up and prioritize their time on Earth.

This crazy fascination with sports is fueled by Joe public. College/NCAA was in hindsight a blessing for 100 years...it protected us from our insatiable want and greed over temporary, illusory and vicarious gratification. Diversions in life existing as obsessions inevitably lead to ruin.

It sounds dramatic but losing college football is heartbreaking to me.

Agreed that fans allow this. But for all the whining SEC fans always show up and brag about filling up stadiums and then cry about the cost. How about just not spend your money on it? There was a comment on another thread about South Carolina fans packing their stadium when their team sucked as if that was the right thing to do. It’s not. You speak with your dollars. All South Carolina fans did was show their admin they are suckers.

Smart fanbases don’t waste money on garbage and reward mediocrity.

There are countless low IQ cretins now making more money in a year (before they're even of legal drinking age) than many Americans will ever see in their lifetimes.

...all because they can run fast and catch a football

That bridge has already been crossed. The cat is out of the bag. Even if coaches took substantial pay cuts for the good of the sport, boosters will still pay millions to lure top athletes to their school.

It’s a multibillion dollar entertainment industry, not the college extracurricular activity it’s supposed to be.

Or is the marginally related gambling industry also in play?
The last time I gambled, we were playing for grains of rice at a Youth Hostel in Iceland. The person who won out was an idiot but really lucky. Lesson absorbed.

Now it's more of a sport to guess which ads on TV and on the net that start out with people having raucous fun are gambling and which are pharmaceutical.

100% agree. Also CEOs should only earn 10x more than the lowest paid person in their company and we need to cap doctor pay as well.

Roll tide,
I agree with that. But that’s a them problem. It’s like an alcoholic blaming his mom because he keeps going to the store to buy beer.

Plenty of teams made a choice not to use the bagman. And teams like mine who didn’t paid for their stand by losing and getting barked at. If the Michigan coach or Bama coach don’t like what the sport is becoming then don’t do it. They could both fill a roster with 3 stars and go 7-5 or 6-6. There are teams in the SEC right now who aren’t giving players 2-3 million bucks and these are the teams everyone makes fun of when they should really be applauded.

It’s easy to talk about it when your team is paying to the max and winning games, Just take a stand but we know they won’t because they have no moral compass. Look at Dabo - he stood against the portal and all this board did was laugh at him. If every coach would have stood with Dabo the portal wouldn’t be used because they’d have no where to go. But Bama and UGA fans say how bad the portal is all while they use it. It’s a joke.

He'll complain and then go out and spend $50 million. If it bugs him so much, don't do it.

All of these coaches complain about the rules, and then they go and do things that contribute to the issues about which they're complaining.

I hate what CFB has become. Might as well only watch the pro leagues at this point since that’s all this is now. Killed everything that made college sports special

We’re at the point where “grown men” 30 years old plus tweet shite at a 17 year old because he/she chose a school they didn’t like.

That has to be a sad arse existence.

His job is to win. He's going to do what he has to do to get that done. Doesn't mean he can't bemoan what the sport has become.

Some haven’t even proved they can even do that they’ll get paid because they’re 6’5” or 310 pounds

Coaches aren’t paying these amounts… colleges have NFL style front offices now and I’m sure just like the NFL some won’t see eye to eye with the coaches
