Idk why the hell you wouldn’t just call it a day at this point with that money
You’re 28 years old, mushy brain, with millions upon millions in the bank. Just retire dude

For the money tua has made and is owed I have no idea why he is still playing football.
Hang it up while your health is good (relatively) and enjoy your money.

Tua to Arizona? Tua to Atlanta?

Agree.
I was rooting for him to be successful, and he was when healthy, but it can't be worth it at this point. Retire and enjoy raising a family. Go coach at a local high school and be a difference maker for kids.

don’t understand the NFL’s convoluted salary system, but what benefit do they have in cutting him if his salary in 2026 is guaranteed? I guess maybe some of his 2027 would become guaranteed if he was on the roster on X date?
All of the contract accelerates and hits the cap this year. So it saves $50M or so from next year. Basically throwing away this season to get a quicker reset.

haven’t heard that Tua is a bad locker room guy,
He actually threw his teammates under the bus last year after a loss (I think Cleveland) and had to make an apology.

I’m ignorant here, how does that $99 mil in dead money affect what they owe him? They still owe him that?
"Dead money" just refers to the salary cap hit a team absorbs for a player no long on the roster.
Dead money can be a combination of guaranteed salary that hasn't yet been paid out and/or signing bonus money that's already been paid, but hasn't yet counted against their salary cap yet since the cap hit for signing bonuses get spread out over evenly the entire length of the contract. By releasing him, it accelerates the time span that the signing bonus he was paid will count against their salary cap.

Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins quarterback, has a notable concussion history, suffering three diagnosed concussions during his NFL career, particularly in the 2022 and 2024 seasons.
Now do Brett Favre, Troy Aikman, Steve Young, etc

I don't even think that he's made of glass per se, rather he is really reckless when it comes to exposing himself to hits, always has been. And he's not a big dude.

He’s accurate and can perfectly time a pass WHEN the structure of the play is perfect and the first read is open.
When the play breaks down or he gets pressure up the middle, forget it. It’s a sack or an INT. He cannot extend a play or throw a WR open outside the pocket.

His mobility and confidence in the pocket really took a hit after dislocating his hip against MSU in 2019. I think that was the same injury that ended Bo Jackson's career.

Call me crazy, but If your starter is hurt you have to be stupid to pick up an extremely injury prone guy as a temp.

He was never worth the risk, there will always be others out there to do the job, was never remotely elite.
Lets not act like Dolphins were willing to risk his fragility because they had Dan Marino.

I think you mixed up the two quotes there. I agree with you.

He’ll be really bummed when they tell him about it again tomorrow

Which is the opposite of what Cleveland has done.
quote:
The Browns have once again restructured Watson's contract, reducing his cap hit in 2026 down to "just" $44.95 million, down roughly $37 million from the original $80.7 it was going to be. That seems like good news. And for fans of the Cleveland Browns in 2026, it is. Yet, for fans of the Browns in 2027 and beyond, it really isn't.
The Browns and Berry shaved off money this season, yes, but in doing so, they added to how much Watson is owed over the next few years. Right now, Watson has cap hits of $36 million in 2027 and $56 million in 2028.
