The opening sentences tell you all that you need to know. If he’s offered, Nebraska will be finding a replacement this winter.

Remember her? I think she has an administrative role at USC or UCLA IIRC.

Why does this dudes name come up in every coaching search? He’s very average. PSU may pay an average coach top 5 money for this:

Matt Rhule's record by year includes: Temple (2014: 6-6, 2015: 10-3, 2016: 10-4); Baylor (2017: 1-11, 2018: 7-6, 2019: 11-3); Carolina Panthers (2020: 5-11, 2021: 5-12, 2022: 1-4); and Nebraska (2023: 5-7, 2024: 7-6)

no wonder CFB is turning off fans. He’d be questionable as a coordinator let alone a HC

Man I hate what college football has turned into.

Uhhh this has always been a part of CFB lol

Unless you mean CFB has turned into “a sport where Nebraska isn’t a premier destination”

Bear left A&M for Bama in 1958 haha

Uhhh....yeah....she was basically the 'fall guy' with the Tulane/Rich Rod/Chris Scelfo fiasco.

As someone who spent a lot of years in the coaching profession, I discourage coaching at your alma mater. There will be sore feelings if things don’t work out.

Look at the turnarounds at those jobs. Pretty unbelievable.

I also do not think Rhule leaving is a gimme. He and his family genuinely love Lincoln. He would be a fool to not use the opening as a way to ask for more NIL money for players and coaches, he's one of the most influential and popular persona's in the state, I can't name one person dissatisfied with where Rhule has the program headed.

That's a lot of risk to go to PSU which has an angry fan base demanding championships now. At Nebraska, he has had a few years to build the program up as he likes to do. He went with that approach in the NFL under the impression he would be able to do the same, and it turned out not to be the case.

If Penn State is his true dream job, there's no keeping him. But I think he also recognizes that he has full control here and loves being the coach of the Huskers

Matt Rhule will crawl to Penn State with their weak schedule next year. I think Brian Kelly would consider if offered.

Penn St. doesn't need a turnaround, though, they're looking for a guy who can win games against top 10 teams and it's not clear Rhule is that guy at all.

Im lukewarm on Rhule but the recruiting classes hes building are great fir us and him leaving would frick it all up.

He did a good job at Baylor, his recruiting classes got better each year and his teams went to the Sugar Bowl twice (well Aranda was the coach of the 2nd team but they were all Rhule's recruits). The key for Nebraska if he leaves is getting someone who can build on what he started. Don't pull a Baylor and hire an Aranda.

let me preface, by saying no one wanted big12, after tejas destroyed it.

but in fairness to nubs, when it came to cutting tejas nuts, when voting, Nubs stood firm, while the rest of old big8 sucked tejas dick, every time they would have a conference vote.

if he wants the job he better make damn sure the Cornhuskers win at Happy Valley. Gonna be a hard sell if they lose to an interim coach with a backup QB. That game is basically his job audition

The most impressive thing was that first recruiting class he put together at Baylor. He found some really good players in a super short span.

Rhule loves Penn State at the same level that you love Nebraska and that thousands of people on this site love LSU. He didn't pick PSU. He was born into fandom and raised as a Penn State fan.

He's gone if they offer, just like any of us would be if the program we wore in our diapers called us.

2-23 against Ranked Teams in his career.

0-11 against Top 10 Teams.

Firing Franklin for a worse version of Franklin lol

Franklin never beat teams with equal or better talent and would occasionally lose to worse teams.

Rhule occasionally beats equal or better teams and rarely loses to worse teams
