Why do you have to bet? You don't know? Are you unaware of the Joker and other great players making such acknowledgments to Rod Laver?
The true answer is because I stopped following tennis closely after Sampras retired. So, I took 5 seconds and found this for you...

“Hopefully he can tell me something that could help me,” Djokovic said. “He is one of the all-time greats, legends of our sport. Someone I admire, respect and look up to.”
I'd assume there are tons of quotes from tennis greats talking about Laver, despite the fact hey played forever ago.
quote:
Court is telling the world she expected some sort of acknowledgment from Serena about her accomplishments. She fails to mention if other great tennis stars have complied in the past with her request.
I'll give you a shot to look that up if you're interested. I'd Google something like "Female tennis greats talking about Margaret Court."

ETA: somebody went to her for a quote after Serena's retirement and put that out as a headline. personally, i wouldn't comment on it, but it'd rub me the wrong way as well if i were Court.
Lol. Snowflake shyt

who do you think the top 25 are beating up the first two rounds of most majors?
You think they’re beating amateurs?
Go look at the draws from the Women’s majors in the 60s, especially the Australian and US Opens. The vast majority of those players were from those countries and it did not include all of the best players in the womens game. With the amount of $ out there nowadays and the ease of travel, fields are going to be significantly better.

Miss Ann is a phrase African Americans use for someone, usually a white woman, who strolls through life thinking she’s better than those she deems beneath her.

but older folks need to understand that athletes today are way better and it's way more competitive. Margaret Court claiming she'd love to play today because it's way easier is just wrong.
I just have to be 100% honest.. Serena's career is more impressive no matter how much I dislike her.
if Margaret Court abused steroids like Serena did, she'd have had a better record as well.

Geesh, I have to spell this out for you. Margaret Court said she has been disrespected by her peers and others because of her "Christian" faith. That's the motivation for all of this.
Do you have any idea who this person is?
This women has not just claimed to be Christian she has taken on the best women tennis players about their sexuality since the mid 70s. They were also her peers. Billy Jean King was homosexual and she fired away. She had this to say about Martina Navratilova: (“a great player but I’d like someone at the top who the younger players can look up to. It’s very sad for children to be exposed to homosexuality. Martina is a nice person. Her life has just gone astray”), and her suggestion that lesbians were ruining tennis, well there are a lot of women tennis players who were out of the closet by then.
If these tennis greats weren't homosexuals themselves, they were, a lot of times, sympathizers to those who were. Political correctness and all.
Margaret Court has been raising hell about her faith for 5 decades. She openly spoke about her inate ability to heal others and speak in tongues. That's fine, let her rip if you feel that way. Free speech and all that. But don't come back 50 years later and decide you are being mistreated for being a Christian when you've had that much to personally say about the best women tennis greats lifestyle since she retired.
And she is not well loved in her homeland of Australia to this day for all these antics. Rod Laver was and is. but he never threw the hand grenades in a crowded room like Margaret Court.

Well considering she had to take a horse and buggy to matches, I would agree.

The ugly truth is Court has been ostracized from tennis because she is Christian and is outspoken about her disapproval of same sex marriage. In other words, she isn’t woke enough for today’s tennis.

If Jesus was so opposed to homosexuality, you'd think he would have mentioned it.

TRUTH. Give me a prime Serena any day over Court in her prime. Serena wins in straight sets IMO.

quote:court would have been crushed in the seles, graf, Everett, Martina years. That's equivalent to fed, nadal, djokovic all having to beat each other. Graf and Navratilova have arguably a legit claim to the top spot because they won playing at the same time. Who did court play? For that matter who challenged Serena? Graf has one less slam in half as many years as Serena
This. For Court to sit here and say with a straight face that it would be easier for her to win in today's game is laughably stupid.

That's great and all...but keep in mind...I responded to THIS post of yours:
quote:
Margaret Court is 80 years old. Serena is many generations removed from ever watching Court take the court.
Watch's next, Rod Laver not happy with the lack of respect he's getting from the Joker.
Does that appear to be talking about Court's personal behavior towards players, or the fact that she, like Laver, played a long time ago and thus would be less talked about?
I addressed the point you actually made, not the one you just moved to. I don't give two shits about the new one, or her personality which is why I never addressed it when I responded to your original post with this:
quote:
I'd bet Djokovic actually would be both aware of Laver and have good things to say about him. I seem to recall Sampras mentioning him quite a bit during his run.
Sort of the way Jordan was well aware of the greats that played before him and would never say anything about being better than them and simply how much their play inspired him. Think also Mike Tyson who was a legit student of boxing.
As for Court, I get it. You can't compare generations. Obviously if you teleported 22 year old Court to 2005 and she played Serena she'd get beaten. Hell, she'd still be playing with a small wooden racquet. I think her argument, and it goes for most older era players, is if she was born in THIS era would she have been good/great with the same benefit of training, diet, etc? Of course people that were competitive athletes would like their chances in that situation. Why would anyone think differently?
If your original point was that no one talks about Court because she's a kunt, then all you had to do was make that point originally.

What she said wasn't a problem for me until this. Saying the above invalidated everything else and made her seem like a bitter old bitch.
My understanding of this statement is that with the money and training it is easier. She. Stated specifically she used to travel on her own and would have loved to have had her family and coach with her. I didn’t take it as the competition is easier. More so the lifestyle is easier.

I’m no fan of Serena, but these comments are just straight butthurt and delusional
