He went to rehab for 2 and a half months. That seems excessive for a simple PR job don't you think?

I'm not hating on the guy honestly. If I was 22 and getting as much fame as him who knows what type of shite I would be doing. But he obviously hasn't handled the fame very well and continues to make himself look immature and it will end up with him no longer in the league.

We have no reason to believe it has effected his play or preparation for games.

He showed up to the Colts game last year sometime between 11:00 and noon for a 1:00 kickoff. That was a game that Hoyer struggled badly in and they could have absolutely used a fully focused Manziel.

Team security had to go get Manziel out of bed to rehab an injury at something like 10:00 and said he was still drunk from the night before.

That's affecting his preparation.

At first thought, I think its absolute bs that Johnny lost his spot for partying. Plenty of players party. Hell, Gronk is the king of partying, yet Bill will never bench him for it. He is the best qb on that Browns roster, which quite frankly isnt saying a whole lot.

On the other hand, Manziel hasnt earned his keep yet. Gronk can do whatever he wants because he's Gronk. He is already established... Manziel is a young guy who starts on a week-to-week basis. He needs to be worried about becoming a legitamite starting qb in the NFL, then he can go have fun..I believe Petine has warned him multiple times to party less, and focus on ball more. Manziel refuses to listen. So, I dont feel bad for the guy, he has all the talent in the world. But if he could just get out of the college frat boy lifestyle mindset he could be really freaking good. Until then, he'll struggle to find a roster spot...

Didn't Tebow throw for 300 yards on Pittsburgh in a playoff game. Just sayin......

I think he just went into rehab to repair his image. We see it all the time.

We do? Can you give another example?

Also every time a famous person gets a DUI. Uncle Jessie most recently. You say you're getting help and people ignore the DUI.

Pretty sure Ray Rice went to rehab to help repair his image after knocking out his old lady. CC Sabathia went to rehab because he had a real problem and was getting drunk in the clubhouse.
Not sure why you think athletes wouldn't use the same PR gameplan as celebs.

Look, bro, this is kind of my area. I see it all the time. Pretrial diversion programs or nonadjudication. A kid gets busted for DUI or pot possession and instead of facing the charges we make them pay fines, go through counseling, etc. We as a society institute these policies because we pretty much assume anyone who drinks and drives or smokes a dime over the weekends has a problem with substance abuse. The laws have gone too far but anyone who challenges them gets roasted by MADD and says, "I lost my baby to a drunk driver so frick you and your rights!" And then people cheer.

Like saintsfan22 said, Uncle Jessie. Dude lost an endorsement deal over it. Why? His image took a major hit.

I love it when we call a 22-year old, almost 23-year old ADULT male a "kid". He had no accountability growing up; he was constantly pandered to (his dad isn't much better). He does have the maturity level of a kid, so I suppose it's fair. I am a mid-level manager; if I am seen drinking and acting dumb, I will likely be disciplined, or even terminated. Manziel has to be treated like a child, since he acts like one. The partying isn't the problem; it's the entitlement attitude that affects his work performance that becomes the problem. When I was 22, I did some dumb things, but I was held ACCOUNTABLE. No excuses for Manziel; it's time to put up or shut-up. He doesn't handle not getting his arse kissed every five seconds well. I have a feeling that Manziel is going to have to fall hard for him to get it. I'm sure that his family, and his fans will bail him out, though. I think JFF can play in the league, but he better make changes, or he's done.

You're a middle level manager and if you're seen drinking at bar you'll be disciplined? Wow

Read again. I said that if I was seen drinking and ACTING DUMB, I could be terminated. Simply drinking at a bar =/= drinking and acting dumb. Also, Manziel has allowed this issue to affect his work performance; this is why his situation is different from other players. If I went out and drank, and it affected my work performance, I would be fired fairly quickly. That would be the case at any NORMAL job. If one of my employees were drinking, and it affected his work performance, I would discipline him. He gets paid to produce/perform, like everyone with a normal job.

He was blessed to be born to a family of means and have natural physical talent.

Regardless of his football career he is set for life and can "party" without having to worry about paying off a student loan, his electric bill, and figuring out how to pay for getting his car fixed when it blows a head gasket.

If guy doesn't want to do what it take to be an NFL QB, just quit. Sure he could get a job as an analyst if he needs it and has plenty of money otherwise

To be fair he admitted to drinking in the fight with his drunk gf and wasn't benched. But making headlines for it again so soon after that isn't a good look.

If I was making whatever he's making, I'd workout, eat awesome food, then bang 10s(well 8s in cleveland) in my awesome arse home out of the public eye regularly. Not so sure why it's so hard for him to stay away from a bunch of annoying college kids.

I think his partying has been blown way out of proportions, but Manziel should know better. It just looks bad especially a week after they finally committed to him finishing out the season as the starting QB.
And why are the people around him not telling him to chill out for a bit?
