I think this is pretty ridiculous to be honest

Not according to his GF
You mean the drunk as a skunk party girl who was throwing his shite out the window, trying to jump out of a moving vehicle, started talking trash to the cops when they arrived, and had zero marks on her? Yea, he beat the frick out of her.

I don't think you understand.
Drew brees doesn't have an off the field problem. Which means noone is over his shoulder watching his every move.
I'm just responding to your original post that insinuates that paying someone millions now means that you own them and control what they can and cannot do at all times.
If that was a openly practiced team philosophy, you'd have a problem fielding a (competitive) roster.

He fricked up by doing something everyone in the NFL does?

If someone is on my payroll and misses work to go to rehab for 10 weeks and then still does the same shite I'm probably not going to be happy.

Ok so let the integrity of the game get trampled on by an immature player with drug issues and a bad work ethic? That sends a good message to NFL fans right?
One player partying and getting demoted is hardly "trampling on the integrity of the league".

I didn't say Tebow should be a starter, but he's at least a back up, and brings something invaluable to the team
I disagree. He is a terrible QB, and most teams only carry two. Using one of your two QB spots on a bad QB because he seems like a good guy is dumb, perhaps even comprimsing the integrity of the league

While I think being demoted for going out on your bye week is pretty silly, how hard is it to just stay home one weekend and not drink and party? Especially when your employer has told you multiple times to take it easy.
It's not hard, but it doesn't make it right. What he did was legal, on his own time, and didn't effect his job performance. No way an employer should be punishing him for that, and no way anyone would be okay with their employer punishing them under the same circumstances.

"I let him know that I'm not going to do anything that's going to be a distraction to this team or be an embarrassment to the organization,'' Manziel said last week of his conversation with Pettine. "I'm going to get a chance to go and relax like everybody else in this locker room is. I don't think they're going to have to worry about me this week."
I'm conflicted by this quote...
(1) What he did in Austin might be "relaxing" for your average Joe that is Johnny Manziel's age. What he did in Austin as a starting NFL QB, who is ridiculed for his every move, is not "relaxing."
(2) Was his weekend "embarrassing" to the organization? Maybe I missed a video, but all I saw him do was rap to a song with a bottle in hand. Was his weekend a "distraction" to the organization? Sure, I suppose... Manziel went to a rehab facility for a "disease" that he likely does not have. More than likely he was advised to go in order to deflect the media attention elsewhere.
I suppose I just don't see the big deal, but maybe I'm still young myself with the same "going out" tendencies.

It's common sense that 97% of the NFL drinks?

So does every Browns player who went out last weekend get demoted? Kannel on radio said 95% of the team was doing the exact same thing on their bye week
Are you unfamiliar with his history and the type of commitments he made to the organization during the offseason?
