Good luck getting any player worth a shite to play for a team with that philosophy.

While I think being demoted for going out on your bye week is pretty silly, how hard is it to just stay home one weekend and not drink and party? Especially when your employer has told you multiple times to take it easy.

what they ask is that you don't leave your house unless it's to go to work.

That's not what the Browns are asking of him. Show maturity in everything you do. That's what they're asking of him.

Never should have gone to rehab. Rehab shifts the story from Johnny likes to party to Johnny has a drinking problem.

Ok so let the integrity of the game get trampled on by an immature player with drug issues and a bad work ethic? That sends a good message to NFL fans right? I didn't say Tebow should be a starter, but he's at least a back up, and brings something invaluable to the team. But, by all means, give Johnny Football another contact because he was a first round pick and former heisman winner.

When his past issues have been pretty well documented and he's come out time and again about how serious he is about football now, I see why the Browns have an issue. It showed an amazing lack of common sense when all he had to do was lay low for one weekend and he would have had his shot to prove himself as an NFL starter I'm sure the Browns have set some expectations for him as far as off field behavior and I'm guessing this violated that also, but that's just speculation. Even if they didn't it was dumb on his part

His past issues were pretty overblown to begin with imo. Yes, he was immature. But he wasn't beating women, assaulting, or raping anyone. He was a kid with money who was enjoying himself. I'm not saying he was 100% responsible, but the media attacked him like vultures for every little thing. When the legal activities he partakes in during his free time effect his on field performance, then the Browns have all the reason to bench him. But that hasn't been the case. He's not doing anything wrong and playing decently well.

You think Benson controls Drew's life?

I think that, if Benson or Payton told Drew that from now on, he was do whatever they say when they say it or else, Drew would be asking for a trade later that day.

Ok, and Tim Tebow won a playoff game. Stats are not the main issue I have. It's the direction the game seems to be going.

I don't think you understand.
Drew brees doesn't have an off the field problem. Which means noone is over his shoulder watching his every move.

JM has an off the field problem. Which means people are watching his every move. And if the guy paying you millions tells you don't go out and drink, you don't go out and drink. It's really not that hard.

Maybe not Drew Brees, but from accounts I've heard, he should probably give his coach the same parameters

He can party all he wants during the offseason. If you are the starting QB of a NFL franchise you need to keep a low profile and work on your game even during the bye week.
