No doubt. That program was cooked. The worst in DI. The previous four years before Snyder they were 3-40-1. Snyder inherited a 27 game winless streak. He won 1 game that first year, then 5, and then 7, and the rest is history. One of the greatest coaching jobs in any sport.

How many players on that Indiana team were transfers that didn't come with Cignetti from JMU? Mendoza and one of the RB who was in a RBBC? And they didn't even need Mendoza to win the title, a game manager would have sufficed with how good the rest of the team was.
Also I'm not sure if anyone's looked at their roster, but if the QB from TCU works out, they're likely going to be even better this year. Ponds is the only other position that isn't either returning or wasn't upgraded in the portal

Did Cignetti actually go purchase elite players? As far as I'm aware they were a bunch of nobodies, minus Mendoza who I had heard talk of being a first round guy prior to his Indiana year.

I think Bobby Bowden belongs in that conversation. FSU had a .534 winning percentage prior to Bowden taking over. They were 4-29 in the 3 years preceding his hire. He might not have started as low as Snyder at KSU, but he did reach heights that Snyder never did. 15 straight AP top 5 finishes is one of the most remarkable feats in the history of the sport.

Indiana or Kansas are not good comparisons to the talent pool in Florida. Bowden took over at a time when there was massive migration to the southeast (especially Florida) and more money was being pumped into football.

That 07 Kansas team was ok but they were mostly a product of an extremely bad schedule. Indiana beat ohio state and alabama in the same season, just that should end any debate on its own.

False. Kansas avoided Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech that year, and played some random ACC team because of bowl tie ins. Lost to the only team with a pulse and did not play in the Big XII Championship game. Kentucky would have had the same reults.

What makes you think that I am a Florida basketball fan? Because I talk about them and you're mad that they are better than Kansas, and are one title from catching the Jayhawks? With all the help that Kansas basketball gets in the corrupt Big XII, you would think Kansas would have more than two titles in the last 35 years. I am not a Florida fan. Fun fact: Florida has as many titles as Kansas in the last 74 years!
2007 Kansas was vastly overrated and played the easiest P5 schedule in recent history (did not beat any team in the Big XII with a winning record). But nice win over Va Tech, who lost 48-7 to LSU that year. What happened when they played Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Texas the next year? Did they lose by an average of 28 points? At least Missouri has played in MULTIPLE Conference Championship games.
I am a Reds fan, but I am also an Aaron Judge fan. I also liked Indiana football before they won a title.

Other than 2023 FSU, that was probably the most demoralized any team ever was going into a bowl game. Despite being ranked #3 in the nation, they were relegated all the way to the Alamo Bowl (because the Cotton Bowl had locked in Texas assuming KSU would win decisively in STL, and the Orange Bowl inexplicably picked Florida over KSU). It was understandable their hearts weren't in the game, and this is coming from someone whose favorite athlete of all-time is Brees.
IMO that Kansas State team was the best team from 1996-2000 and had they won it all, they would've been remembered as the 2025 Indiana of their time but even more remarkable. Considering how good they remained from 1999-2003, I wouldn't have been surprised if they won another title or two after, especially considering playing for a national title probably means no coaching exodus to OU.
