I think median attendance would be a far better metric to compare seasons

Anyone have that?

Only 6 team in the AL at .500

Teams are more willing than ever to tear it all down and rebuild if they don’t have a realistic chance at making a deep run in the postseason.

The Astros gave everyone a blueprint. Managers and GMs have historically worried about their short term job security. They were eager to sign free agents or promote young players in an effort to get immediately better.

A competitive team hovering around.500 is in the worst situation in the current environment. Organizations either want to be competing for a pennant or tanking and rebuilding.

A ton of free agent players were left unsigned this past offseason. Agents were crying collusion, and a lot of good players were available for rock bottom prices.

I was watching a game the other day (I think it was the Brewers) and the entire infield was foreign players. How do you root for that?

I want to watch Americans play American sports.

The bleacher section of most ballparks is still 20+ dollars then you have to include food and parking.

Offer some $8 bleacher seats to fill those seats up...especially on weekday games. Then profit off the concessions and parking from the extra fans.

weather has been brutal, and when you have 162 games, weather is a major factor.

frick, we've had summer weather in spring. it's been hot as balls, i dont blame anyone for not going.

It's fricking brutal to sit in stands when its humid as frick and 95 degrees.

And is this actual attendance or paid?

Only if you want to start every game at noon. Nobody in their right mind would be at Fair Park at night.

I really wanted to hate Bruce Maxwell for the crap he pulled last year, but he has been in Nashville for a few weeks now, and I go to a number of games, and Ive gotten to interact with him a few times, and he might be the nicest guy Ive ever met in professional baseball. After the first time I met him, he has remembered me, and has come up to me every time since and has started a conversation with me. Every one Ive talked to about him has said the same thing.

1 they play too many damn games
2 should be a hard cap like the NFL does To level the playing field from the haves and have nots. Bigger market teams Have a significant adv over smaller market teams. What makes the NFL great is that every team (small or larger market) have the same chance at becoming relevant with a good FO
3 the DH should be in both leagues. It’s unbelievably stupid that this still is a thing
4 pace of the game is slow as well, should be a pitch count

Modern professional baseball has gotten pretty boring with fewer and fewer balls in play.

Correct

Thats why I think MLB should expand more in smaller southern markets. AL and LA, as a state, could make a MLB a ton of profit by the amount of streaming eyeballs. TN and the Carolinas too.

There's absolutely no way MLB could be remotely successful in Alabama, Louisiana or SC and have my dobuts about NC...I could see Nashville as a good place
for one of Florida teams to relocate.MLB is not the NFL
in regards to TV,revenue sharing and salary caps. You have to have either an owner with unbelievably deep pockets who's willing to lose millions or other forms of revenue with TV/radio deals and or a great stadium deals IF you want to be somewhat competitive.

MLB expansion has pretty much been a disaster in Florida and I don't think it would fare much better in other places in the south.

Wish Dallas had a park in town rather than Arlington, been in Dallas 2 years and still haven't made it to a rangers game. Would be cool if Fair Park was the home to Cowboys and Rangers.

If the league hadn't been so chickenshit about refusing to let the Rangers sell to Mark Cuban a Dallas stadium would be a reality.

Instead they have owners who are going to bulldoze a perfectly fine stadium so they can build another next door at twice the cost of what it would have cost to dome the current one in a city that refuses to have any real legitimate public transportation to and from Dallas and Fort Worth.

There is just no way in hell I'm going to fight through traffic that'll hit at least an hour from my house to get out to Arlington and then sit in the heat while not drinking during the game for fear of getting popped with a DUI on the way back.

Old curmudgeon answer is that analytics ruined the game. It's all home runs, strikes outs, and 50 shifts a game now.

You can easily get $10 to $15 bleacher tickets for Braves games during weekdays.

Like who?I'm not but I would guess teams like KC,Cincinnati,Tampa and Miami offer really cheap seats.

I can't tell you the last time I went to a Ranger game on Sunday afternoon. I'd rather kill myself than do that again.

This is the first year in a good while I haven't had season tickets for Texas and the only games I've gone to are ones where I've been invited to sit in a suite. I can't put myself through sitting in the heat to watch the shite we do day in and out.

I can deal with it on tv, but not in person an outside.

DART goes to Arlington. Not ideal, but it does go there and there is a pick up/drop off to the stadium

Unless there was a wreck, I drove 60+ times each year for the last three seasons from Dallas to Arlington and it took 20-30 minutes tops and that's with parking.

If you're afraid of getting a DWI then don't drink. I hardly ever drank at the games for this very thing - that and it was a lot of weeknight games.

There is nothing better than getting lit on a Saturday afternoon with your bois then walking to the stadium to keep it going. Not being able to do so is prob why the Rangers have fallen on such hard times

Lol ok.

Regardless, the new stadium will have a bar scene within Texas Live.

I always just tailgate, not everyone is a douche who needs a bar to go fist pump in before/after a game.

It's 2018.

Unless you're living on the government dole or are a trust fund baby or Ferris Bueller...most people don't have time to spend 4 hours at a baseball park during the work week and get home late for work tomorrow.
