Rich coming from a curtis guy. Curtis always claims to be the best team in the state, yet never has had to beat the best team cause they were always scared to play up. All those 2A and 4a banners hold a ton of merit, lemme tell ya.

I know that Catholic can beat Curtis this year, but as you said, are they going to perform when the bright lights are on?

Lester, you're just jelly that the banners at Curtis take multiple gyms to put up. I said a couple years ago on here the first chance JT will have to play up to 5A without the other sports suffering he would take it. He did. I stand by what I said, JT never played up because the non-football programs could not compete in 5A. He, unlike Evangel, didn't want to throw the rest of the school under the bus just for football. Go look back at Evangel's non-football teams when they were 5A. It was beyond bad.

Good post Jackson. JT said that numerous times when questioned about playing all the way up.

Bull shite post on all accounts actually Jackson. Curtis has won multiple state championships in other sports. The difference from when they chose 4a over 5a in the other sports was negligible. If you believed JTs reason I have some ocean front property to sell you

You are right, girls 2A basketball=girls 5A basketball. I'm sorry I don't know what I was thinking.

BTW you should apply to be the next director of the LHSAA. I'm sure the small schools would love to know that all state champions are good as the 5A state champions and we should have one single division. Good luck, I'm rooting for you.

Thats the reason he didnt want to put his other sports playing up and have them suffer. Football was different. Get over it.

How many 5A schools truly "compete" across all sports, anyway? That's an easy disguise to hide behind. Ole JT just wanted to be the best in every sport, which was easier to do playing down. Scared. You have holdbacks and kids that come to your school strictly for athletics. Give me a break.

just sayin bro

You guys had some baseball teams that may have been better than the football teams for a long stretch there. Bball was always athletic. Softball dominated. I mean, how many sports would have truly suffered?

Ok, you may have had a .500 Bball team every once in awhile.. the horror

By "compete" GOJ means win a state championship. There would be nothing wrong with a John Curtis softball team going 22-12 in 5A, but they couldn't win a title, so JT had to stay down in 4A.

Exactly. Curtis won multiple baseball and softball titles and competed in basketball in 4a. It would have been very similar in 5a. The difference is there would be 1/2 the state titles jn football. Just tell the truth . They also have tons off state titles in track too

THANK YOU

what i've been saying for years

they would have been in the Jefferson Parish district with one legit team in every sport. the rest, Curtis 8th grade would probably beat

but they would be playing 4A otherwise?

track and field, baseball, both basketball programs have all won state championships in the last 10 years. Curtis softball may be the best program in the state in any class.

He was playing 4A for years because he knew he could duck the 5A power houses like Evangel and West Monroe. And steadily collect championships in 4A which in most years is no better than 2A or 3A ball.

I used to hear that in 4A football, as long as you were on the opposite side of the bracket from Curtis you had a shot at getting to the Dome. Basically confirming Lester Earl's above statement.

Wish we could have seen Curtis play WM more. The one time they played, WM won 26-7.
