Nope. Closer to 16 or 17 buses of fans. That's not counting all the people who traveled separately. If Byrd didn't outnumber Rummel, it was extremely close
Byrd outnumbered Rummel last year.

Less than 300 kids and families is not a great fan base. I've been to some of their games.

I wouldn't be so derogatory about it. Curtis is, simply, a small school. With only 300 and how many on the football team and among the cheerleaders? Can't REALLY blame them, can you? I know on those rare occasions when they play at East Jefferson, they clutter up the neighborhood pretty well.

I can tell you that the fanbases at the Shaw HC attendance was weaker than what Curtis brings.

Not doubting that. I know from going to the Dome every year, they can fill from 20-20 on one side of the lower bowl. The whole talk started with setting attendance records, it would be tough to break the record with a school that size in it the way the championships are set up today. When everyone was in town for one weekend lots of people from across the state would stay for all the games.

For the record my son looked at Curtis after 7th grade but decided to stay home. One of his friends ended up going to Curtis and now is at UCLA.

True

Not quite true, but it fits your point.

However, if Jesuit was playing for a state championship in the dome, there would be droves of alumni and other Jesuit people going that haven't gone to a Jesuit game in years. I'd be one of them, and so would plenty of people I know.

I don't pay a whole lot of attention to high school football, but I think you're overstating how much people care about seeing Rummel vs John Curtis. Yea, it would be a good crowd, and it would probably set a record, but only because both schools are 10 minutes away from the dome.

By the looks of the Division I bracket, a Jesuit-Rummel semifinal would likely be a Jesuit home game at Gormley. That crowd would be massive.

Im friends with a ton of people on both sides. Im not just making it up. It's as big of a rivalry you can have without actually playing. Ive seen coaches from each school on FB talking shite about it before

Sounds like a classy group.

ZHS will win each game by at least 21 points, including a revenge beat down on Byrd. Could run through the higher select divisions the same way.

Good natured for the most part. Like i said, a lot of friends between the two schools. But ive seen a Curtis coach take a "shot" at Jay Roth not wanting to play them

If they win, they get the Ponchatoula/Acadiana winner. That's the best possible time to take on the winner, one week after a huge game. That's why I picked them to advance to the Dome.
