If the Lakers do pass on Ball, it better be for Fox and not Josh Jackson.

Personally, I think Fox is the much better fit beside Russell at least defensively. I'm not sure a backcourt of Russell/Ball could do much to slow down the lightning fast point guards in the league.

Ball's passing ability, play making abilities and court vision would be so, so hard to pass on, even with the Lavar nonsense.

I would ship pick 2, Deng, Clarkson, and Mozgov to Indiana for George, and pick 18.

While you're at it, why don't we ship Clarkson Deng and Mosgov for Durant, Curry, and Draymond

Yea, but who is going to shoot the ball? Lakers are one of the worst perimeter shooting teams in the NBA

i am a laker fan and last night after reading some blogs and stuff i prayed that magic would come to reason and pass on ball. it's like so fricking ovbious to anyone with 2 eyes ball is a bust and his game doesn't translate to the nba.

i want the lakers to draft fox, trade russell somewhere and get some 3 point shooting. i don't want fox next to russell i want fox next to ingram that is a scary defensive back court

That's a curious take. I think the consensus is that Lonzo's game most translates to the NBA more than anyone else's, primarily because he doesn't rely on scoring like many others. He possesses elite size and athleticism for his position, and has great basketball IQ.

We see players drafted every year that could get buckets in college but become woefully inefficient in the NBA. I think it's the guys like Fox that look so tantalizingly good in college that see NBA size/defense and shrink.

You say "another" like any of those guys are superstars.

Take the top flight draft pick and PG and keep whichever of those guys that you want to. There will always be teams that will take on your bad contracts. NBA teams love bad contracts

I like it. Give me Fox, Randle, Russell, and then get two other lefties for an all left-handed line up.

Speed demons like Westbrook who get to the rack in a blur & have the athleticism to comfort their body & finish with a contest?

that is the talking point yes but i don't buy it

he's basically a point guard version of kyle anderson. he's not a good athlete, he's kinda slow, his release point makes the PnR impossible to run effectivly. i mean i don't give a shite about his dad, I don't like him for basketball reasons. who the frick is he going to guard? To be this all world point guard they have to move him to the two position to free him from D Fox lol. he can't create against elite defense. that's kinda like a point guards job. his handle is shaky under pressure. I mean,i know this is a new era and shite and we like flash but defense matters and i dont' think he even undrestands what he hyptoically should be doing, let alone actually does it.

dammit, my point guard, my 2nd overall pick point guard i better be able to throw him the ball with 4 on the shot clock being guarded by... westbrook and he better be able to get a half arse decent shot off a point guard should be able to break people down and credate, ball uses his size not his quickness as doesn't have any.

he has outstanding OFFENSIVE BBIQ n ot BBIQ in general. he has great, elite court vision but the angles thbat he gets and the passes he makes are there becasue of this offense not his ability to break people down UCLAs floor spacing is elite.

i do not like him as a player at all. if he becomes an all start it won't be on my team.

Fox is the better player. I think that's pretty obvious to anyone who watched the season.

So more of a Westbrook/Demar Derozan type, great slasher that can't really shoot threes.

If I have my pick of nearly anyone in the draft, I think the idea of what Lonzo can be is more unique than Fox. We see. Like I said, 6'6'' PG that can finish at the rim and rebound. He checks a lot of boxes that you don't normally get at that position.

Man, you make it sound like the guy doesn't even belong in the lottery.

What do you like about Lonzo?

His defense and lack of elite athleticism is what scares me. I think offensively, his floor is at worst Shaun Livingston and his ceiling is tremendously high.

Ball got exposed somewhat on the defensive end when he was dealing with explosive, speedy guards like Fox. Ball had no problem dealing with bigger guards that tried to bully him into the post.

IMO, the issue with a D'Lo/Ball backcourt is neither of them have shown the ability to defend big time athletic PG's, which the NBA is now loaded with.

It's the ben simmons reaction. An elite prospect starts to have his flaws over exagerated all because he is a high profile player

I agree. At the end of the day, I just can't see the Lakers passing on Ball. Too much potential and you know Magic will have a soft spot for a big point guard with Ball's skill set.
