The guy can obviously coach but he caught lightning in a bottle with Penix and a bunch of NFL WRs. That said I’m not sure who is a better realistic hire.

It's not saban, there will never be another saban, and thats all that matters. Alabama isn't some mythical place, it was 100% saban.

He was very good at Fresno State too. The short tenure s are a valid concern but guy has won everywhere.

He's going to be dealing with an ongoing cult of personality around the former coach. He's been getting killed in recruiting in the Seattle area. One #4 ranked recruiting class and the Bama masses will eat him alive.

Recruiting high schoolers isn’t quite as important now with CFB free agency.

That might actually help him with the transfer portal for next season.

Too much is made about stuff like this when coaches go to the SEC. Urban Meyer crushed it at UF coming from Utah.

Good coach, but anybody is a step down from Saban. I was hoping for a little more shakeup across the conference.

Homerun Mike Shula-esq type hire. Can’t wait for these losers to go back to where they belong in irrelevance.

Joe Morehead is a good football coach. How well did he fit in at Mississippi State?

This. He could kill it or completely get swallowed whole by the Bama machine. He’s only been a head coach for 4 years and never in the South. Only 2 years at a Power 5 would make me nervous. He definitely knows Xs and Os though.

Pretty sure he was vetted and doesn't have a history of going to strip clubs like his Washington neighbor to Alabama.

Following Saban is a tall task no matter who took over, but DeBoer is far from a one hit wonder he’s 140-12 in his career.

They’re the only school with 2 separate coaches who won 6 titles there….

They at least have a little proof there can always be another legend.

It's not just following Saban.

It's following him with Saban being in the building at the same time. Things could go great, but if they lose a game or two, things could snowball quickly.

Having Georgia early in the season is incredibly intriguing.
