DeBoer is one hell of a football coach. But if Bama sniffs a recruiting class outside the top 5, they will want him fired, just like they did with Mullen at Florida.

What year will BAMA have less talent than this year's Washington team? Coach Saban was not the world's greatest recruiter at Michigan State. He was much better at LSU but the state has a ton of home talent. If you win at BAMA they will come. History says so.

Had been my opinion for a long time that Saban would have a hand in who succeeded him. Hopefully that extends to filling out Deboer's staff with established SEC coaches/recruiters.

Yup. I really have a feeling that Bama will just roll on.

You can erase the literal best 15-year run in CFB history and Bama is still the best program in the history of the SEC

Pretty amazing when you put it like that, damn.

That’s a really good hire.

We'll see, I remember this site in full meltdown when A&M hired Jumbo, then again when Texas hired the Houston guy who's name I can't even remember now.

He quit because of NIL, he was going to be exposed.

NIL doesn't expose teams who recruit in the top 3 every year. NIL doesn't expose great coaching either. Coach Saban explained why he was leaving. Throwing insults on the way out is just what inferior teams do, so enjoy.

I'm surprised he took the job with UW being in the Big 10 next year. And these laid back PNW coaches have been eaten alive in the SEC.

Coach Saban had ALABAMA at #1 for a record 109 weeks. That's more weeks than any other college football team in their entire history.

The cold, hard stats say, you are an idiot.

Bama fans are about to realize with recruiting that kids were committing to Saban, not Alabama.

Also, when coaches get hired, I like to think about whether or not that coach was on that schools radar 6 months before. Were Bama fans clamoring to have this guy be Saban’s replacement a year ago?

If UW doesn’t pull a couple of games out of the fire this year, is he even in consideration for this job?

It’s a very ‘prisoner of the moment’ hire.

Trying to save the class before it falls apart, Saban dicked them, he got scared after Harbaw went in dry.

Imagine if you had told Bama fans in December that within a month Saban would be gone and they’d have this guy as their head coach.

Following him winning 9 games at Fresno and then increasing UWs win total by 7 in his first year, he was 100% a guy to keep an eye on. Add a 14-1 season and a National Championship and you bet your sweet arse I’d want him

People would have considered Sark a nuclear home run hire and he has exactly 1 great season as a head coach. His record prior to this season was 59-47. Then this year he pulled just as many games out of the fire with a more talented roster

Other than Kiffin, DeBoer was the best realistic candidate. Lanning’s recruiting and record looks good, but Willy Taggart and Mark Helfrich won at Oregon. We got the guy that has dicked all over Lanning with less resources and less talent
