You’ll never convince me that Mac Jones couldn’t take a loaded roster and be solid for them.

Obviously most every QB would play better on a loaded team, but that’s the point. Mac couldn’t hold Mahomes’ jock. But you’ll never convince me there aren’t rosters that he’d be a million times better for than a bum making $220M.

shite is ridiculous but the QB reality of the NFL is that if you're an adequate NFL starting QB then you will get paid as a top-10 QB when your contract expires. If you're a potential top-10 QB in the NFL? You will be the highest paid QB when you sign a new deal.

I don't watch much and I even know who this is. If you watched any of the Knicks in the playoffs you would know.

I don’t think I’ve seen the Knicks play for about 7 years.

I avoid them like I avoid Boston College football. Genuinely nothing draws me to tune into either of those teams’ games for some reason. Not a single ounce of me dislikes NY. I just have absolutely zero desire to watch them.

Tua and Love got paid for what? Tua had the most weapons of anyone and hasn't proven anything and Love started one year. It's just crazy what these qb's are getting paid.

You don’t need a #1 overall QB pick or a 60million dollar QB to win. The way you’re describing has produced the more dominant runs.

Yeah, if he landed on one team. The one who traded all the picks to draft him and then melted to public pressure.

There is one team who can compete for titles with a game manager and that's SF, b/c of how insanely awesome Shanahan is. Even McVay had to get a guy like Stafford and couldn't do it with Goff (who has developed above that tier under Ben Johnson, but limits the LIons in some ways in terms of title contention with a stacked roster otherwise).

Otherwise, you need a really good QB to be in title contention.

Love is weird b/c the Packers had him sit for so long, but he was really good in year 1 with the physical tools and coaching structure to develop into that tier under Mahomes/Allen. Similar to Lawrence.

You could win with game managers in the 90s… you can’t now

But boy...better show me more than just 1 season of that for the highest paid QB in the league.

It wasn’t even one full season. He started off well, was arse in the middle, and finished strong. About 10 good games in total

These QBs are making a higher and higher % of the team cap. Can’t be sustainable right?

Seems like every sport across the board is always setting records. TV rights, contracts, etc. always 30% larger than a few years before. I don't see how the actual consumption of these sports parallels the contracts being handed out. Make it make sense.

You do this and you'll still be the Lions and have to pay the QB top-tier money when his deal is up or else you close the title window.

At least try that way for a change instead of giving generational wealth to ONE, average arse QB who will never earn that money.

Who are all these teams who couldn't re-sign the majority of their top talent b/c of an expensive QB?

The Chiefs could have kept Hill but it would have been at the expense of their D, which they rebuilt with the picks from the Hill trade. They also paid Chris Jones and have paid a ton for FA OL.

The QB position is so good in the NFL now, especially at the top, you simply cannot rely on a game manager to compete with a guy like Mahomes in the playoffs UNLESS your head coach is Kyle Shanahan.

Sports are the only live TV that advertisers can really rely on to get eyeballs on their ads consistently.

Additionally, streaming platforms want legitimacy and have lots of money.

I feel as if qb’s are typically take in the first round or like in the 5th+ rounds. I wonder why teams don’t pick a qb every year in the middle, day-2/early day-3 rounds and just reload in rookie deals. I guess since you’re relying on the position to lead the team you can’t just shift leadership every 4 years, but man it seems like there has to be a middle ground between being an arse QB and getting cut, and becoming the next highest paid one in NFL history.
