Jimmy Sexton put on a masterclass this week.

1. His client (Nick Saban) retires

2. He uses the Alabama job as leverage to get raises for his other clients (Dan Lanning, Mike Norvell & Steve Sarkisian)

3. He then places another client (Kalen DeBoer) at Alabama.

Textbook stuff.

this is far less impressive when you realize he just represents everyone.

This reminds me of that episode of Bojack when his publicist brags about her clients always win the Oscar but then he realizes she represents all the nominees

Sexton has such an awesome job for the money he makes.

If NIL ever leads to players signing contracts like the NFL that would be a cush job to get into

Ironically mirrors the self-fulfilling prophecy of Saban’s success. The job’s a lot easier when you have disproportionate control of the best pieces

Doesn't that just make the whole thing more impressive?

And history tells us that most of these guys will disappoint after a huge contract extension and be getting a buyout in a 3-4 years.

only because fans have unreasonable expectations.

when not winning a championship is considered disappointing and only one team can win per year, it's impossible for the majority to not "disappoint"

Yeah, it’s like winning the super bowl with the all-pro team. I’d like to see him pull this off with some MAC coaches.

Trace Armstrong came on strong the last couple of years, but Jimmy Sexton cemented himself once again as the master this year.

Anybody that could get a $75 million contract for a coach who took an undefeated National Championship team to a losing record in 4 years is an actual wizard

Is this really a masterclass when you represent everyone?

Seems more like a predatory move on the weak

Sexton creates the dynamics of never having to worry about who is first on the list. The messaging goes out at the same time and the guys make the call. This search by Greg Bynes might as well have been done inside a stealth bomber. The days when football fans can read the tea leaves through the process are well behind us. And I like it. No stress is always better and we have a great candidate.

I look forward to the day when athletic directors start ignoring candidates when they find out this blood sucking parasite Sexton represents them. It's sad how weak the crop of modern AD's are - they hold all of the power, because they are the ones writing the checks, and yet they leverage none of it. I suspect many of them are represented by the same agents. And that means it falls on university presidents to dig in and stop getting manipulated by Sexton and the other parasites that call themselves agents.
