I used to love following college basketball but the "One And Done" ruined it.

Cuse was definitely paying players a long time

This is the correct answer and it is obvious they hate it. Also obvious who the NCAA would make the scapegoats for years. Funny how "great" coaches have to have a competitive advantage always.

I love transfer portal and NIL because they have brought out into the open for all to see what has been going on for decades. And perhaps they will finally force an entity to actually deal with cheating the proper way.

All the guys whining about NIL and the portal are the same folks who benefitted from the under the table money and deals. It’s all just hypocrisy. Now that any school can pay out in the open the push back is from those who lost their advantage with under the table money. Boeheim, Coach K, etc have bought players for years. Now they’re pissed that the Wakes and Pitt now do it. I love all of it because it shows how corrupt the NCAA has been for 70 years.

Remember SMU? They were destroyed not because they paid players under the table but because they weren’t in the right club to be able to pay players, so the NCAA smoked them while Switzer, Bama, and others just laughed.

They need to put some rules in place to curb what its become. Make it where schools aren’t allowed to discuss NIL or do anything to help faciliate NIL deals with recruits until after they’re officially enrolled. At least try to cut down on all these NIL bidding wars for players who haven’t even set foot on a college field/court yet

Jim Boeheim is upset that he cannot out pay the kids legally. He liked it when he could do it through his bagmen and controlled the market value.

This 100%. It's no coincidence that most of the coaches whining about it are longtime established HCs at blue bloods and traditional winners.

The game the game… either learn to play it or retire… people said this about free agency in the pros… too much money involved for this not to eventually take place… these coaches making millions products of the players not the other way around (Jimbo for example) … Jamies Winston responsible for A&M giving him that ridiculous contract… too much money getting passed around for everybody responsible for it not to get paid…

Uh, yeah...because now programs can openly compete with programs that secretly bought teams.

These coaches also love being the big, bad tough coach on campus who run things the way they like it and if you have a complaint you don’t matter.

Now these men have to go to the boosters hat in hand and humbly ask for money for a player. The coaches don’t like it when the booster now feels they have the right to be listened to.

There is nothing socialist about scholarships that are merit based.

They get a scholarship based on excelling at a special skill. Like people who get scholarships for music or art. Nothing socialist about that, more like the patronage systems of old.
