So a coach who makes $2.8M a year, has the job security that allows him to not only coach as long as he wants but ALSO guarantees him the right to name the coach who takes over for him when he retires is moaning about what NIL has done to college basketball?

I like Boheim and he is likely underpaid when compared to his contemporaries, but he needs to read the room and realize it is the exponential rise in his own salary (and more so TV contracts) that lead to this arms spending race and inevitably, NIL.

Any of you baws ever think you would live to see the day that Tulane would beat USC in The Cotton Bowl?

Boise beat OU and was contending for a spot in a natty for a couple of years. UCF. Cincy. UH. TCU. These types have been pulling upsets pre NIL.

but he doesn't give anyone any money. Nothing. Not one guy. Our guys make like $20,000.

This seems self contradictory. He is saying that since his guys only "make like" $20k, they make nothing? 20K has probably been the under the table number for years and he just let that slip perhaps? I don't get this statement.

NIL is long overdue and should have always been a thing.

This take is so much BS. The answer was a little more aid or assistance not a free for all for 18 yr olds. Earn the right to make the big money at next level, NIL will always be a joke.

1) I guess this is good if he keeps coaching if it means he spends less time behind a steering wheel.

2) He just hates now that when he signs a player it doesn’t become a prison sentence for him for 4 years (because there is no easy path to transfer). The old egotistic a-hole now has to somewhat be constantly recruiting his own team to want comeback next season.

What a f'in douche... this guy is probably going straight to hell when he croaks. He has always been an obnoxious arrogant a-hole. Didn't he cover for a pedophile?

NIL has no legal regulation. This is simply an exercise in greed and chaos.

Lies! Wake Forest just set up their NIL after the basketball season started. Wake’s coach received a phone apology from Boeheim on Sunday.

people said this about free agency in the pros…
The portal is nothing like NFL free agency. Total farce. Allowing players to transfer after any season isn't the same at all as signing a 5 year free agency contract in the NFL. Those players can't hop around just because they were benched. The portal is a joke and only encourages tampering. An absolute shite show.

He is 100% right. For some reason, they are intentionally trying to ruin college sports.

Anyone who defends NIL is a fool.

So, you want LSU, Alabama, OSU, USC, OU, and Clemson to stay on top and let no other schools to compete for top recruits every year? Yep!

Jim Boeheim doesn't even crack the top forty for basketball coach salary. He's been at Syracuse for over fifty years, and has been underpaid every single year of that tenure.

Not when 30% of the team isn’t good enough to contribute and never will be, yet gets the same benefits.

So NOW Jim "breaking the rules isn't cheating" Boeheim has a problem with players being paid.

He is such a a narcissist.

I just looked at the Cuse schedule and he knows and everyone knows that they are going to lose 5 of their final 6 ACC games with the way it sets up.

So, he has to put this statement out now so that media doesn’t speculate on the why/how if he should be back after missing two straight tournaments.

a-hole can’t take any criticism.
