but hadn't the investigation already commenced? like, i thought the criminal stuff was the next day or that night or very close to the act?
They investigated it the night of, and the cops dropped it. Months later the girl lawyered up and went back to the police and media.

What are the chances that the video of the encounter surfaces?

I also dont know why you assume extortion requires "going to the police". It just requires making a threat. The threat was to release damaging information to the media and courts. That is extortion, not a plea deal or offer because there was no ongoing case

ETA: It is clear cut blackmail also, which involves extortion

In blackmail, which always involves extortion, the extortionist threatens to reveal information about a victim or their family members that is potentially embarrassing, socially damaging, or incriminating unless a demand for money, property, or services is met.

Some of these definitions of blackmail and extortion would bring the legal system to a halt

Clearly But in my mind, since the police had dropped the investigation, and no civil case was ongoing, I think the threat Jameis received would be considered extortion. Regardless, that wasnt my point of posting this. My point was to show that maybe Jameis was innocent and the girl wasnt Cindy Lou Who

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but when all of this went down, Winston had yet to take a snap and become the potential money pit?

So why would the victim make all of this up to extort money out of him if he wasn't shite yet

Now going after the University, I can see, but how would she have known that the University would cover all of it up as they did? Pretty big gamble there.

The frick was Winston's family supposed to come up with $7 million? And don't tell me FSU, because that's a retarded path to go down.

This is exactly why she looks guilty as sin. The incident happened before Jameis was a starter. Flash forward months later, after Jameis has essentially won the Heisman and become famous, and then the victim demands the money. Jameis refuses, and 4 days later she goes public

Slut shame her?

I'll say this, what her lawyer did was smart but unjustifiably dirty. They played the race cArd of the white angelic victim and the black savage predator beast. People like Emitt till were murdered for shite like this 50 years ago. Her boyfriend is black which makes me believe that her lawyer knew how to spin this. Use his race against him and show him as the carnal black athlete that preys on white women. Shameful.

I sued the living day lights out of that slut.

So her trying to have him arrested in December of 2012, prior to him even becoming a name in 2013 as the Heisman, shows she's guilty as sin???

So she planned ALL of this a year in advance of him becoming a potential money pit? Had the cops/university done their job, there wouldn't be anything to go after.

Is she an opportunist, most definitely, but I don't see any way in which this can be claimed to be a huge, thought out plan.

What?? No. She didnt go to the media or push the case until after Jameis became famous. I think you are confused

Fair. Knew plenty of chicks who went by the same philosophy, and then some of their best friends were black girls.

Prosecutors "extort" defendants every single day.
