I've only been to a UFC event there, but T-Mobile has got to be the most well-located sports venue in the world.

I think that folks are wary of A's ownership more than anything. Remember that getting the Raiders from Oakland got us Mark Davis.

I hope that something can be done to keep that A's in Oakland. I went to a few of their games back in my USAF days (when they had Billy Martin, Rickey Henderson, et.al.) and it was a fun environment.

How likely is it they get a NBA team in the future?

Vegas is a boom or bust city. They’ve busted a couple of times in the last 15 years. First was the housing crash, then Covid.

Some cities boomed during the housing crash and Covid?

From what I have gathered, the locals are very upset about losing the Tropicana (or most of it)

I have a pretty good friend who lives in Vegas and a big part of the nightclub scene there and when it was announced that the strip would be losing the volcano at the Mirage to make way for Hard Rock Casino, I could not believe the support he had from locals who helped protested this.

10's of thousands of locals were really upset about losing that stupid volcano. That's just a volcano.

Imagine what locals feel about losing a classic/iconic resort where their grandparents, parents, friends, etc. worked, gambled, partied, ate, etc. It's a whole different upset. This is why the locals are upset about the A's.

If the A's were building the stadium somewhere else in Vegas, I would bet (no pun) the enthusiasm from locals would be a lot more positive.

I would say very likely. NBA stars and the best coaches would LOVE, LOVE to live in Vegas. Those millionaire and billionare suites and seats would sell out instantly for years. Plus if towns like OKC, Milwaukee, SLC, and San Antonio can support an NBA team, there's no question Vegas' NBA team would thrive.

I remember 4-5 star resorts costing $69/night with free all you can eat buffets- those were the days!

Cheap destination??

Vegas is super expensive now

They came out of COVID and stuck it up tourists asses. So many new fees and prices not dropping like usual

Even flights are asinine.

Why can’t they just knock down the old Hooters casino instead of the Trop?

Trop is iconic and kind of a dump. Hooters is just a dump with a fresh out of prison clientele.

They are still that price. They just tack on a $150 resort fee each night.

No one cares about the eyesore that is the Tropicana

Even after the remodel no one goes there

Part of the proposal and NV legislation required a multi purpose venue for concerts and things in addition to being a ballpark

And this is where the real money is made.

Is there gonna be some state agency managing the ballpark or will the A's ownership have that control?

Yea but visiting fans will show up in boatloads to a weekend series.

I seriously doubt there would be visiting fans flying in specifically to watch their MLB team play in a Vegas. This isn’t like a football game that happens once a week, and on the weekend.

The NBA is expected to expand by 2 following the completion of the next tv deal negotiations in 2024. New teams probably taking the court by 2028.

People 100% will. Folks will take any excuse to go to Vegas for a weekend and blow through some money. Knights games have tons of away fans who’ve traveled in for a game as just part of their experience
