It’s honestly hard to be a professional baseball fan these days.

I’m not going to run down the leagues economic model or union ridiculousness. I have the want, just not the stamina.

The game is just boring. It’s slow. Half the players are bought from the 3rd world. The season is too long for the average fan. It’s a league of extremes. You’re not resurrecting a franchise in 3 years. If you’re the “Browns”, you stay the Browns unless you change your farm system slowly over a 10 year period.

We won’t even speak on blatant collusion of Dodgers and Ohtani nonsense.

This really isn’t a thread to complain but maybe the game has just passed me by.

College baseball is just a purer version of the sport, even with NIL.

What is so much purer about college baseball? Other than less 3rd world athletes as you referenced.

As a sport, baseball is extremely boring.

As a fan experience, baseball is laughable.

I just took my son and 8 of his friends to a rangers game. Sat in lower level, 3rd base line. Concessions = cold $18 burgers and cold $8 hotdogs. Shitty overpriced beer, shitty signage. I found a kiosk to get the kids flamin hot Cheetos. It was the bottom of the 6th inning and they cut sales on Cheetos.

It was his birthday, paid $106 for his birthday message on the scoreboard. They never ran it, or any other messages for that matter.

these days football might be worse especially with the long commercial breaks and all the dead time between plays. Definitely much better to watch on tv.

None of this has anything to do with the sport of baseball. Sounds like the park sucks though

What do players from third world countries have to do with baseball sucking? If anything, they bring more energy and passion to the game, than the boring first world countries people.

Baseball is for the strategic and intelligent, so I understand why you don’t like it.

When the product on the field is mind numbingly boring, the fan experience stuff can’t be so woeful. I can’t believe people regularly pay for that shite.

pussy

my team is rebuilding, and they have been a lot more enjoyable to watch than they were the last 5 years, supposedly competing.

Too much swing and miss in the MLB. Not sure how they fix it with how nasty all the pitchers are, but no doubt how young players are being taught to elevate the ball and that it's all about launch angle contributes as well.

There are guys that have no business trying to launch the ball that are taught to do so simply because if they can hit 20-25 homers they'll have "more value" and get a $20M contract.

A guy like Luis Arraez only being able to get a 1 year, $12M contract is exactly what's wrong with baseball.

Mlb season is too long, and my bigger issue with it, and there probably is no easy fix, is the players are too good lol. Especially fielding. A groundball anywhere is basically an out. Whereas in college its still interesting.

I dont know how college ball is any purer though

Isn’t that what you’re paying to see

Just like the people who say the NBA is boring because they make shots

a soon to be 30 year old 2nd baseman who plays below average defense, doesn't walk, and hits for no power should have a multi year deal worth more than $12mm a year?

If you say so.

Nearly 75% of MLB players are American.

Whatever “average fan” means.

You mean like the Browns? The bottom feeders in most pro sports leagues stay the bottom feeders.

And it’s been proven time and again that despite its smaller post season, MLB has had as much or more parity in participation than the other leagues.
