I feel ya but we both know the hardcore knowledgeable fans aren't enough to sustain a league. It's like politics, you gotta get the people who aren't knowledgeable.

The economics is what does MLB in for me.

Baseball would get me back if they:
#1. Put the NL rules back in the NL. Pitcher bats.
#2. Eliminate ghost runners in extra innings. I liked watching the occasional wacky 18 inning game.
#3. Let the defense play wherever they want. What’s funny about banning the shift is it’s resulted in far fewer hits and runs. The exact opposite of what they intended
#4. Automated strike zone all game. Just let the technology do the work. Don’t want challenges. Get it right every time
#5. Salary Cap. Clearly the “competitive balance and international signing pool” draft limits haven’t worked at keeping the league competitive
#6. Move a few teams if their attendance is too low and they want to move. I’d start with the Rays. Move them to a market that will appreciate them
#7. Fewer levels of minor leagues. I think baseball is correct in contracting at the lowest level.
#8. Make all international players draft eligible. If I want the next Juan Soto, a MLB team should be drafting him, not winning a bidding war when he’s 16 to sign him. That would immensely help lot of smaller market teams and put a premium on drafting.

I'm enjoying the AL wildcard chase this season. MLB Big Inning has a nice whip-around coverage of each night's games during the week. It's like Red Zone for baseball. Check it out

MLB is much better now than it was 20 years ago.
The sound quality, visuals and rules make it more enjoyable now.

I don’t believe that’s true. BABIP actually slightly increased, but rule has had no effect. If you want more hits, lower the mound.

Not for me, I watch my Cubs almost every day.
If LSU was not involved, I would not watch an inning of college baseball, not a pitch.
Now I don't watch a whole heck of a lot of MLB outside the Cubs, but more than that and find it a better product. I mean the best - top level college team would be the equivalent in talent to a Single A team.

Baseball can improve by shortening the season and having game 7 of the World Series the Friday of Labor Day weekend.
This is when people’s attention turns away from baseball to football. This still gives MLB five full months for a season which is long enough.

I would not be opposed to it - though my enjoyment of it doesn't hinge on overall popularity with the masses - I would not mind seeing that improved and if this would help, even slightly I would be in. Though during the mid-week days when there are not many football games on, I love having my Cubs to watch those days/nights.
Baseball is just different though, I think the days of it being the national pastime are over, football is that now. But baseball still has a very strong regional presence. People may not watch anyone else but they watch their local team or favorite team and are very loyal.
Per my example I watch over 100 Cub games a year and make 3 trips a year to Wrigley and one to a road game. I may not watch much of any other teams or games unless it directly affects the Cubs, but I passionately follow the Cubs. Same with LSU baseball.

My fixes for baseball:
1. If ump declares that a pitcher knowingly hit a batter with intent, then the pitcher has to stand on the mound while the batter throws the bat at him. If pitcher moves from the round, then one run scores.
2. If a manager gets thrown out a game, then he has to pull his pants down to his ankles and run around the bases while sucking his thumb.
3. Outfielders cannot wear baseball gloves.

I liked MLB much more in the 80s. When the art of trying to hit to gaps and holes was valued. Seeing guys half swing slap single between 3rd and short to get on base. Bunts, stolen bases, etc..Everyone had one masher in the cleanup or 5 spot. Now, almost everyone is trying to go yard at every at bat. There are no true masters of the art of hitting anymore. The game is way more boring now. There was far more nuance and strategy being played out every inning.

Yeah, we can go on down the line with this. youth league baseball is a much "purer" version of baseball than college baseball, but unless I'm going to see my nephews play the chances of me taking time in a weekend day or night to go watch it are zero.
