Even sadder is that they weren't the only ones. The Warriors signed him first then the Clippers just matched. I know Hornets were interested in him, but dude is just a big that can catch allys. He has no offensive game and his defense is subpar.

well they were making a play for paul and he's griffin's best friend or something. it was an overpayment to solidify their future, not for his services

Yeah, I get why they did it. He's also an athletic big, and in today's NBA, they tend to get overpaid. Not to derail but the Clippers situation is one that will be interesting to see how it plays out this year.

In a dream world the Thunder would sign Harden at 12 mil a year and Ibaka at 10 mil.

Hey I can I dream right?

How do you figure Westbrook has more shot attempts?

the stats I listed were just from the San Antonio series. Overall, Westbrook has 3 more shot attempts than Durant in the playoffs.

Another stat, Durant is shooting 50.2% in the playoffs. Westbrook is shooting 43.5%.

Slack I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain that during the reg season when Westbrook got more than KD Thunder won much more than compared to the alternative.

Well, yeah. He's gonna chunk up 20 shots regardless of whether he's making them or not. So, of course they aren't going to win as often when he's still shooting the same amount of times but making less of his shots.

Sorry let me clarify:

When Westbrook TOOK more shots not MADE more shots they won more. Again I may have that wrong but I'm fairly certain FS OK showed that state comparison late in the year.

Seems like the consensus then was keeping Ibaka and letting Harden go if they have to.

And it happened.

Ibaka > Harden IMO

But they really could have kept everyone if they wanted to.

Is it a hard cap with no exception? I never paid attention to how NBA does their CBA. Do the clubs also have 1 or 2 exceptions to max contracts? Or is it a time of service to max out?

Couldn't they go even more over the cap and sign him to a max deal if they really wanted to?

they could, but they'd have the highest payroll in the NBA in a few years possibly. they can't afford that
