re: It's going to be sad watching OKC break up in a year or so

I don't think thats in question. Its building around Durant with Westbrook, or building around Durant with Harden and Ibaka

How does the new CBA work, can the Thunder trade one of Ibaka/Harden after next season without an extension (they'd be in the same situation EG is now for the Hornets)? Or would they have to do it in season? I'm pretty sure sign and trades aren't allowed by this time next year.

Okc has really cheap tickets - they could easily jack avg ticket prices by 15% to help offset luxury threshold.
Also love idea of trading Westbrook for a very high lottery pick as PGs are pretty easy to spot in draft.

quote:no shite. westbrook is a 6'3 shooting guard dribbling the ball up every possession
i don't think that the position "point guard" really exists on the thunder, honestly
quote:ya hes amazing: hit on #2 pick in the draft, #3 in the draft, #4 in the draft, and botched a #5(green), and hit a late first developmental pick(iblaka). seems he had plenty of premium picks to make it happen. we'll see how great he is when steering in and around the cap.
Presti is one of the best if not the best in the NBA.
quote:they can, but OKC doesnt really have an endless revenue stream like yankees/cowboys/lakers.
They can go well over the cap to sign those guys. Don't know if money is an issue, they seem to be doing just fine.
quote:jesus, dude
I'm holding out both Harden and Ibaka will take a discount
quote:hes the best low post defender in the nba per JVG. how many guards/wings do you need eating up the whole cap? you gotta have someone playing D and getting boards.
They never should have extended Perkins. He is decent at best and not the worth the strain on the salary cap.
quote:hes a great athlete playing out of position. hes just not a point guard.
It is fricking nuts how much Westbrook is underrated.
He is a me-first player. He does not pass like a real PG.
quote:completely agree
He takes so much shite for absolutely no reason just cause everyone is always beating off to Durant, so Westbrook is the scapegoat when they lose.

Point Guards are similar to RBs in the NFL in my opinion, dime a dozen and theres always (maybe not this year) a PG in the draft that can step in and lead a contender to a championship.
Well put.

There was a nice stretch of PG's for a while, but there isn't one in this draft, there isn't one in next year's draft, and there is nothing special at the HS level right now. I'd hold onto a great PG if I had one.

westbrook is the leader
durant is the superior player
i don't really think many people argue this anymore after last year's playoffs, this year, and this year's playoffs

and botched a #5(green)
How exactly did he botch that pick? Green averaged 15 points and 6 rebounds his last 2.5 years with the Thunder. You would be hard pressed to find a better player that went after Green in that draft.

All the OKC players will take team friendly deals to stay together and win 6 championships in a row

Like someone above me said, how was Jeff Green a botched pick? He was good for us, but he just didn't fit in with the scheme of the team - so we traded him? Not a botch at all actually.

The Thunder need to keep Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka.
Harden is the most expendable, IMO.

Not to nit pick your post, but AI played SG. Snow was Philly's PG.

The hate that Westbrook gets on this board is unbelievable to me. The Thunder aren't winning a title without him. They don't need John Stocton running their team. Like SFP said, the dude has averaged over 8 assists in 2 of his 4 pro seasons. He is capable of making plays when he needs to. He's not a selfish player. He has a mismatch just about every time he's on the court, and his team needs him to score. People talk out of their arse so much on this board.

People know who owns OKC right? Aubrey McClendon does not give a flying frick about losing money, if he wants to keep all of them he will. Its not a money issue, it rarely ever is.

I love westbrook...but I wouldn't just blanket statement he's not selfish. When he struggles he tries to shoot his way out of slump like most...which can hurt them. When his shots on he passes alot more. He just forces a lot when struggles. He rarely struggles.so when it does happen its magnified
Posted on 6/3/12 at 6:22 pm to fightingtiger2335
it's also magnified b/c he's playing next to durant, who has "free pass" disease
